Bellingham, WA

We are in Bellingham, WA. The last stop before we cross the border on Sunday into British Columbia on our Dream Come True trip.

Last night we were treated to a wonderful dinner and evening with Dick and Toni Whitfield (rlwhit). It was great. Thanks so much guys.

We will spend today getting meds, supplies and whatever else we are low on before we go into unknown territory. Hope we will have internet along the way so I don't start having withdrawal's

Helen

Canada does have Costco and Target! Might even be a bit cheaper!!! Watch your truck in the Abbotsford, Burnaby, Surrey area, they have the highest vehicle theft in Canada! If you are going into Vancouver, the traffic is horrible, specially across the bridges. Don't even attempt it in rush hour. My daughter lives in Vancouver, unfortuneately they have gone to Belgium for the next 3 weeks or I would recommend their restaurant. Have a great time, the flowers should be gorgeous right now!

Thanks for the info Sue. I think our route will be skipping Vancouver. We will be visiting with Julie and Les at their campground in Abbotsford. Do you happen to know the flower gardens in that area that are suppose to be even better than Bouchart Gardens. I mean, where they are located?

The gardens you are going to are called 'Minter Gardens' about 1/2 hour east of Abbotsford on hwy 1
They are fantastic at this time of the year.
As you mentioned about entering into unknown territory and wether internet wouyd be available, I am sure that us very friendly Canadians would help you out by sending smoke signals from our igloos for you. But be very careful around the wolves, grizzly bears and rattlers!!
Now I take my tongue out of my cheek and wish you a great trip - as per previous post - do not go through Vancouver with an RV. It is like Seattle traffic but with no freeway through the downtown area.

Helen, I feel your excitement....or is it the memory of my own? Either way, I'm so glad that your real adventure is beginning. Be sure that you have Canadian coverage if you're going to try your Verizon aircard in Canada, if that is even possible. You may have to look for internet but it's there. Remember to stop at the Visitors Centers. If they don't allow you to connect with your laptop (many don't) feel free to send me an email via their computers and I'll post it on the forum for you. If they allow you to connect, then you can go right to the forum and we'll all be looking for your update. You usually can't get on the forum with their computers because of the issue with cookies and registration. Maybe someone knows a fix for that when you're on someone else's computer. In the larger cities, there are internet cafes which aren't terribly expensive. Keep your guns and fireworks in the US and you will do fine.

Do you have your sign for the sign forrest at Watson Lake? You should go through there on the way back so be ready!

Thanks for the humor markwick. Having been born less than two hundred miles from Canada, I have spent a lot of time in your great country and I am looking forward to seeing the area we are going into. The only places we have been in BC is Victoria and Yoho National Park so it will be all new territory for us. Next year we plan on going to the opposite side of the map as far as Newfoundland. We will be sure to stay clear of Vancouver.

Yes Judy, we have two to choose from. One is the sign we took off the house when we sold it and the other is our MN license plates from when we "moved" to South Dakota.

Helen, we plan to make that trip starting in about a month, and will be crossing into Canada near Vancouver also. I do hope you are able to get on the net and keep us posted on your trip -- the routes you took, where you overnighted, etc. Know you will have a wonderful time. We can't wait.
BTW, we made that trip to Newfoundland in 2003. That is also one fantastic trip.
