Looking for a campground near Donaldsonville, La.

Sometime in 2006 when my little grandson is on school vacation my wife and I want to take a trip to Donaldsonville, La. My Dad was born and raised there back in the late 1800's, I'm trying to do a family tree. Anyone know of a good place to park a Montana for a week or two?

The only one I am familiar with is Cajun Country Campground at Port Allen on the west side of Baton Rouge. It is a Good Sam Park, 800-264-8554. A couple years back we spent several days in the area touring many the old Ante-Bellum homes on both sides of the river all the way down to New Orleans and back to Baton Rogue. Even though we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Baton Rouge I remember seeing this CG from the road. If you have time consider making a tour of Nottoway Plantation, it is about 15 miles north of Donaldsonville on Highway 1 and Oak Alley Plantaion, about 22 miles south of Donaldsonville, on Highway 18. Lots of luck on your research, lots of history in that area.
