quartzsite safety

Broad area I know, but is there any security provided on the BLM areas? Have you had bad experiences, theft, vandalism, personal danger while camping there?

The Rangers will patrol on occasion and we have noticed a bigger presence this year at La Posa South. In general using common sense like locking your doors, locking your gen sets up, etc.

For the most part it is pretty safe and secure here but like any where there is always going to be the exception to the rule.

No problems in La Posa South, but there have been rports of generator theft on Plomosa Road and that area. We haven't been for a couple of years, but there are a few threads on here about thefts in the Plomosa area. Seems like a little common sense with your belongings goes a long way.

Plomosa road has been a problem in past years with thieves even bringing bolt cutters to "unlock" generators. When I heard about those thefts it was almost always after the show when the crowd thinned out and in a couple of cases the crooks were caught. Our criminal justice system being what it is, however, they're probably back out there by now.
