Lug Nut Replacements

Has anyone else out there had problems with their "Chrome Plated" lug nuts rusting or turning color on them? We own a 05 3400RL which was well maintained except for these lugs, called Tacoma RV yesterday and they quoted me $5.00 each lug !!! That's a lot of Beer Money concidering all four of my wheels are in the same state - Rims look great only the lugs are crap. Anyone else have a solution or an alternate fix? Maybe a different type of lug?

I noticed the same thing on my 2007 when I picked it up at the dealership on Monday. It really makes the aluminum rims look old and tacky. So, whats the fix y'all?

About 8 years ago I replaced the lug nuts on my Ford and they still look like new. I picked them up at a Les Schwab tire shop. As I recall they were less than $2 each at that time and have a lifetime warranty. Or, you can order them at this site:

Same on our new 2007 Probably due to them using an impact gun to tighten them.
Anyone call Keystone for replacements? Or maybe try the dealer first.

Just did our preliminary PDI on our new 3400 yesterday and the rusted lug nuts was one of the things on my list the salepeople indicated they would most certainly take care of. We are doing the final PDI next Thursday and I will let you know what happened in our case. Our unit isn't even off the lot yet so they rusted during transit from Goshen and then sitting on the lot for 5-6 months. I suppose the replacements will do the same?

Mine look like they are 10 years old, this will be on my 'Replace' list at my dealer under warranty.

John, try Tacoma Tire on South Tacoma Way. They have a very large selection of lugnuts and are very reasonable. I bought some for a custome car I built and they didn't have exactlyw hat I wanted, but hey had them the next day.

mine were rusty when we bought it and dealer said he would replace them but all he did was to clean them up. one week later after a good rain the rust was back. called Keystone and they sent me a new set. had them for a year and not rusty yet. might be because i wax them when i clean up the monty.

Aren't they supposed to be rusty????? Ours have been rusty shortly after our delivery date, I didn't even think about this being a warranty issue as I though hubby was doing the damage making sure that the wheels were torqued correctly.

The dealer had the factory send me new ones, it took about 10 days to get them.

I got the dealer to replace ours under warranty right after we took delivery in Feb. 2005. The new ones rusted almost immediately. When I packed the bearings last spring, I cleaned and waxed each individual lug nut, and they were showing rust again within a couple of weeks. I think I'll order some McGuard as mentioned here.
