Have a safe trip Ozz. If you are traveling near Austin let me know we will give you some heads up about our neck of the woods. I even have a Miller lite in the fridge. The best BBQ in the state is 2 miles from our house. You get to bring your own beer in a cooler to the restaurant.

Ozz, if you go through Ozona, TX there is a great little place that has the best chicken fried steak......believe the name is Red Barn - first exit coming from the west off 10, if it is still there. Watch for the signs on freeway. We were there in '03 so may not be there any more.

Safe travels.

Thanks, Lorraine. I can tell you one thing, pass on the Chicken Fried Steak at the KOA Kafe in Van Horn....
The Hamburglers are super, and the peeps are great there. (Sit by the open window, as the kitchen grease smoke, will gas you.) We intend on staying there next.

We very seldom go to a KOA - I think only once in '03 did we stop at one in Colorado Springs and that was because Mike and Lorraine (another MOCer at the time) was camping there, it turned out they weren't home for the day/night we were there. But will keep that in mind about Van Horn - we are hoping to get down that way before heading to Branson in May. We fly by the wind and when we decide to stop Jack starts looking in the Trailer Life Dircectory and do pretty well on finding a nice park.

Safe travels.

Colleen, you mean we drove through Austin and missed you AND the best BBQ in Texas? What a travesty!

Ozz, when you get to Van Horn, you might want to stay there a week or 10 days to fully explore the town. Let us all know how that works out! (LOL!!)

If you do have a day or two there, check out the construction of the first strictly commercial Spaceport, to be located just a bit north of Van Horn. A most interesting project, funded by the Virgin Record company owner, as I recall.

Enjoy your trip!!

PJ, actually, I would love to spend time here, I really like this little town nestled in and around the Mountains, I just read the Visitor's guide, lots of neat stuff to see, thanks for the tip about the Spaceport, that nut with Virgin is an interesting fellow, without his billions, he would probably be institutionalized, a forward thinker, he is.
We want to spend time around Corpus, and have to be in South Padre in a week or so, maybe next time for Van Horn.
Take care, Ozz
