Cheep fuel...
After checking the price of diesel today we made a trip to Quartzsite as the Chevron was selling it for $1.97, wow under $2.00. I filled up and then looked at the receipt and it said I was charged $1.79 a gallon.
Jackie and I talked about it and decided that the person at the station that imputed the price had dyslexia. Being the good guy that I am I went into the store and told her "I think your price at the pump was wrong". She gave me a dirty look and said "it's correct at $1.79" (the sign Say's $1.97). Before I got out the door the other lady working there said "NO, it should be $1.97". As I walked out the door she went running out to check what was on the pump and I never even got a thank you.
So, I don't feel bad at all with a fill up for $1.79 per gallon.

Great story! Even though you did not get a "thank you", You came out ahead. Around here, the price is from $1.959 to $1.989. If it doesn't go up, maybe this summer's tour will be tolerable.

I look at it this way. if the price at the pump is 2.00 per gal and the station sells it to me for 1.79 per gal, there loss is my gain. most of those pumps are set up to read at the register what the pump.
so I take it as a gift from God and the Service Station.

$1.92 here in Texas City today. That's only one station that is always low. Others are running between $2.02 and $2.09 (plus tenths)
I wonder how many others woulda/coulda benefited by the station's mistake?

Just yesterday I found diesel at 2.09 here in west central Florida. 4 days ago it was 2.12. The WalMart was 2.19.

Dick, you did the right thing by letting them know. I applaud you for that. Enjoy the cheap fuel and your good deed.

Dick, the price difference could be the .08 difference in tax between heavy trucks and light trucks in AZ. Flying J in Yuma has $1.98 on their sign and $1.85 on the RV and car pumps. If you fuel at the heavy truck pumps, they will give you back .08/gal. at the register.

It was $1.97 in Des Moines yesterday before I left. Down in Orlando it appears to be hovering around the $2.27 mark.

Thanks Dennis but this time it was a case of dyslexia on the part of the gal doing the input on the system.

1.77 at the flying J on the north side of Sioux Falls this weekend. Cheapest i have seen it in 2 years. Locally it is 1.95 here in rural areas of NW Iowa. Here is a link to where I watch the prices of areas I will be traveling thru to see where it is cheapest. Wish I had a 500 gallon tank in the bed to fill up with and store till summer gets here.

And Dave, that's what you get for leaving cold windy Iowa and heading to the warm weather without taking the rest of us.

Ron,
I could not help myself, the warm weather has been calling my name and I could not resist. This trip was down was by air so the diesel prices down here won't apply. I'll be sure and bring some sunshine back your way next week.

Must be nice to find fuel less than 2.00 a gal. Here at exit 50 of I-65 in so. Ind. it has not been less than 2.49 all winter after being 5.00 last summer. I paid 2.59 last week at a station 15 miles east of I-65. Oh well.

I filled up last night for 1.95 locally, so it was the first time I have filled up for less than 75 dollars for quite a long time. It felt pretty good to hear the pump shut off because it was full and not at the 75 dollar limit that our local pumps shut off at.
