Power Awning

I just purchase a new 2010 326 Montana Mounatineer with the power awning. I really like it but when the awning is in the out position the entrance door rubs it. I see no way to raise the awning like on my manual one on the old trailer. I don't know if this will hurt anything but the noise of it rubbing when the door is opened is very annoying, especially on a new coach. Is anyone else having this problem?? Any quick fixes?? Thanks Bubbabc

I'm not familiar with your model but camping world sells a roller that is attached to the top of the door that lifts the awning and prevents any damage by the door edge to the awning. If you don't get an answer here suggest you contact Keystone
Customer Relations or your dealer.

The Mountaineer's door is normally higher than Montana's. Most of the Montana's have a step built in to the floor of the entrance. Then the outside door is lower & hence won't rub on awning.

Hope that answers your question.

Might try this. After rolling the awning out, give the button a touch to just start the awning to roll up. It puts a little tension on the awning. Kerry

Anybody here know if a sunshade could be used on a power awning? We have used these on previous manual awnings but, are hesitant to use it on a power awning because or the weight. Do they make lighter ones?
Thanks in advance for any information.

My '09 3605 Montana does the same exact thing. The door just barely rubs on the awning, annoying to say the least! The 3605 does not have the "death step" inside of the trailer, so I guess the door is higher than on other models.

I would take it back to the dealer & have them fix it while under warranty. I don't think things are supposed to rub.

Mine is in the factory service bay as we speak. We will see what solution they have for me, if any. I don't see a real fix unless they actually move the whole works up higher on the side of the trailer.

I'll let you know tomorrow.

Mine did the same thing. We took itin tothe dealer, and he showed us how to hit the switch and roll it back just a fraction to avoid rubbing. It did not do this the first few times we used it, but the service folks said that over time the fabric will stretch a bit from just hanging around all day, and you have to do this little roll back. Only takes a second, so we can live with it!

After we extend ours all the way, we retract it until the flap or fringe at the end of the roller hangs straight down and no rubbing.

We have used one on ours without any problems and have left it on and retracted the awning without issue.

Well, the "official" solution from the Keystone Service Center is to, .......roll the awning back up a bit. It seems to have eliminated the rubbing.

This seems to be an issue only on the models that do not have the inside step, where the entry door is situated higher up on the wall.
