Leaking black water tank

We have been noticing an unpleasant order around the Mountaineer lately. Well, yesterday we hook up to go dump the tanks. We get out to slide the hitch, and DW notices water running out from under the trailer. I crawled under it (carefully) this morning, and sure enough the belly membrane is wet with stinky water. Also noticed a big "T" cut in the membrane right under the tank which had tape over it. I suppose the tank has an extra hole somewhere in it which they attempted to patch. I checked in the basement, and there is no sign of leakage there. Serious health issue to me, as now the membrane and insulation is contaminated. I want it all replaced. I'll call the dealer tomorrow and see what they say. We're scheduled in later this month to have the bedroom slide re-roofed.

I hope you are under the warenty period!!
I went through hell with our black tank leak as we were out of warrenty, but had told a dealer that we were haveing a problem with the balck tank blowing back een when empty.
Have them even if you have to buy it a 3" flex rubber coupling and have them install it between the tank and valve.
The problem is that they are hard plumbing the tanks, valves and outlets and have NO FLEX in the plumbing and the tank outlet is the weak sopt.
Good Luck

Shades of what happened to our 2000 Montana back in January. The black water tank split at the edge on top of the tank, causing spillage when the rig was moved with contents inside of it. It didn't need to be full in order to notice the leak. First, the leak appeared to be clear water but the repair shop said that was because the water on top inside the tank was somewhat clear. However, the underbelly membrane had to be removed and scrubbed down and disinfected and then allowed to lay in the sun for a couple days to dry out. My wife and I had noticed we were waking up with headaches every morning and just didn't feel well. Turns out it was the methane gas from the septic tank that was making us sick, along with the continuing odor (though I couldn't smell it, she said she did). Mine was fixed under my extended warranty. Total bill was $954.00. Had them replace/repair all three valves (galley, grey, and black tanks) at the same time. No sense having to go in there again.

My advice, get it fixed as soon as you can. Don't spend any more time in the rig than you absolutely have to.
