Surround Sound Speakers

Hi everyone. I did a pre-PDI on my new 3075RL Monte today and was unable to get sound from the two rear speakers (5.1). I didn't have a DVD to check the surround sound with but was hoping sound would be on all front and rear speakers with the radio(stereo)or television but there was none.

I was able to switch the upstairs speakers on and off with the remote control.

Does anyone have sound from the rear speakers without using DVD?

Thanks in advance.....

I had the same problem when I did my PDI.

Turns out the surround sound only works with the DVD player.

I was quite dissapointed in the memorex dvd home theatre in our 2007 mountaineer, it works just as you describe and the sound isnt much better than the dashboard speakers in a '74 Buick, very unimpressive IMO. Our much cheaper 2004 Rockwood had a concertone home theatre that was light years better, we watched we were soldiers one afternoon last season, and the sound of gunfire and helicopters got some attention..lol. I will be swapping it out for a system that has a quality sound and 5.1 surround when using the TV without the DVD.

Make sure the audio on the receiver is set for all speakers otherwise you will only get sound from the front three.

At some point I would check your DVD with a Maxell DVD lens cleaner. It has set up tools you can use to check your wireing. Not one speaker wire was in the right place. They just shoved any wire into a hole that would work.

Thanks for the tip on the speaker wires. I 'think' mine are wired correctly but they had some strange connections between the DVD and TV. As delivered I could not play the TV through the surround sound system speaker, only through the built in TV speakers. That is fixed now (TV rigged into the Aux input) and I have sent the output Audio from the DVD to a wireless transmitter that can send the radio or CD music to a set of wireless speakers in my basement.

I found the wires in all the wrong places also. I also noticed the same thing with the rear speakers only working when the DVD player was playing a movie. Then I opted out totally and installed my old home 7.1 surround reciever.

Bill, What speakers system did you end up getting? I was going to run speaker wires from the bedroom to the basement but I think I like the idea of wireless speakers.

It has been awhile since I transferred them over from my SOB... a quick google search I think I found the right ones...... Acoustic Research, AW871......

They work well....and run on either battery or the included AC adapters.
