Texas Campgrounds

We are planning a trip to the San Antonio and Corpus Cristi areas soon, and wondered if any of you could recommend campgrounds in those areas? We are not in to the "parking lot" type CGs, and although love some privacy, still want full hook-ups when possible. (Not too picky, huh?) Any help would be appreciated!

In San Antonio the Admiralty park is good. Located near Fiesta Texas.
In Corpus Christi we like the state park in Port Aransas...about 13 miles from Corpus. Good luck.

We are looking at similar destinations (as well as others) later in the year. According to RVpark reviews the ratings are spotty for Admiralty but Blazing Star seems to be consistently highly rated.

Would really appreciate your personal opinion. Some of the comments were discouraging and we don't want to make a mistake. They appear to be in the same area.

We have visited the Blazing Star CG in San Antonio and it is really nice. Its a resort type which means it cost more. The sites are large, the pool is nice, but the restrooms and showers are fantastic. We also stayed at a Passport CG in Mathas, I think thats it, anyway I would only recommend it if you only need a night on the way to something better. It's north of Corpus near where IH37 and 77 split to go to the valley. I wish I was with ya.

I would also recommend the Blazing Star resort. It is one of the best RV resorts we have ever stayed in. Kind of pricey, but worth every penny in my mind. Check out the reviews at;

Thanks so much to you all!! We will definitely pass on any experiences we have going that direction! The Blazing Star sounds like a favorite! We will be sure to let DianeandColin know what our thoughts are, too! We go from St. Louis to Florida a lot, but haven't taken "Big Bertha", which I lovingly call our 3400RL, to Texas yet. You are all so great to help out! Thanks again! 'Will be in touch!

We have stayed at Blazing Star twice this past year. Blazing Star is definitely a resort campground. Anytime in San Antonio, we will stay there.

Would also like to comment that the "Blazing Star" in San Antonio, Texas was one of the best campground resorts we visited this past winter. All sites are pull through, paved and shaded. Nice pool area and it was quiet. The laundry, bath houses and showers were as clean as your own. Price is about $35.00 per night. Would we stay there again - YES. Would we recommend Blazing Star - YES.
