Water leak during heavy rain

We noticed after a big storm last night that water was running down the inside wall behind the stove. It seemed to be coming from behind the microwave but who knows with water.

It is a 3402 RL (2013). We have slide toppers. I have checked the seams and they seem sealed. The outside vent for the microwave is closed.

I thought I remembered a posting here about water getting in though the refrigerator vent, but I can't find it..

Thoughts?

Vent could be a source even if closed if caulking has deteriorated. Refrigerator vents are notorious as leaking sources.

You might check the caulking on the top of the microwave vent.

Water leaks are tough. The first thing you should do before water testing is visual check all of the caulking on the roof and around the vents. Check to see if any caulking is missing or you see cracks in the caulking.If you do not see a problem you could start by water testing with a hose. Set up a hose and set up on a ladder or something that you could try and duplicate rain. Point toward the side of the trailer and set nozzle to duplicate rain. You do not want to much force of water just enough to duplicate the rain you were having. If it starts leaking them you can go to refrigerator vents and tape those off and do the retest. if it does not leak it is probably the microwave vent. Tape the microwave vent off and retest with water and see if you see any water. If you do not see any water on the first test you might have to direct the water higher like around the roof area. We had a problem with water coming in behind the fridge, dripping down off the wires. Checked everything and couldn't find an obvious source. The dealer checked as well. The rain storm that weekend had almost horizontal rain so pretty sure the culprit was the fridge vents. In Az for the winter so no worries down here but may check out the solition in the above link to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I had a leak from behind the micro too, running down the wall.

Check the caulk around your microwave vent, and the screw heads too.

I have a 2014 3402 rl and have caulked vent etc. Only seems to happen if wind is Blowing on that side. Has anyone come up with a solution to stopping this?

We have the same model and year. The most probable cause is the Stove vent or the fridge vent.

Okay, I just tried an experiment. I turn the vent fan on high. Water pours in, then goes back to dripping. Ran for about 15 secs, turned it off and now leak stopped??? Then about 2 minutes later it starts again. Water seems to be getting in vent itself.

Our leak finally got fixed by removing the old caulk and resealing the top of the kitchen bump-out. Who knows what path it was taking from there to get behind the microwave, but water can do that.

Since we have awnings on the bump-outs, it only happened during windy rain storms.

I guess we have been very lucky with our 2005 3400 RL. We have not had a leak to date. I do try to keep things sealed. That factory caulk will crack and peal after a couple of years.
