TV sound going out
When our television is in analog mode, all is well. When it is receiving digital, the sound invariably cuts out or way down after a while. The remedy is to turn set off and back on. Is there something simple to look at or is this something for someone who knows what they are doing. Carol calls me the "Master of Disaster" when it comes to being handy. Thanks in advance for any suggestions - Jim

from what I understand, your signal is a little weak. The digital,HD signals need to have a good direction from your antenna.

With a weak signal your sound will cut in and out and your picture may pixilate (break up into little squares). We have a big problem with that at home so we went back to analog but it is going to be bad when they make the cut off of analog.

I’m certainly not an expert on this but the first thing I thought of was the signal. I agree with what has been said.

Thanks, all. I now know that I don't have a big service bill on the horizon and that is a relief.

For a possible cheap fix, try adding a signal amplifier to the input cable of your television. You can pick up one for a couple of bucks at any home center or hardware store in the section where they sell cables.
Another important thing to remember especially with digital televisions, is to make sure all your cable connections are tight.

I hooked up one of those digital converter boxes on the TV here in my computer room. I have noticed that one of the local stations will break up both sound and video on occasion. It looks the same as my satellite signal in bad weather. When we came back from Florida both our satellite dishes were down. Heavy winds took them out. Got one back up but the other is terminal. New post and dish going up soon as the back yard drys out.Only have local TV here in the computer room....No si-fi channel..
