Can't wait for retirement

This is our first time posting on the site. We love our 2007 Montana. 35 feet and worth every inch. We are weekending it for another year and then will be retired and looking forward to setting out for extended trips. WE learned about the site from folks we met At Lazy Lakes Resort near Niagra Falls, NY. We have learned so much from all of your wonderful postings. Thanks to all! Deb and Mike

Welcome to the forum. Retirement comes highly recommended. I have been retired for one year. Please checkout this link discussing the North East Rally at Byron, NY about 24 miles west of Rochester and about 80 miles from you.

They are some nice people at Lazy Lakes. When my wife broke her leg in Toronto, I had to leave my rig there for a week while I managed her care. Even though I was taking up a prime space, they only charged me $5.00 a day. They seemed embarrassed to take that, but I insisted.

Welcome to the forum. Retirement is a good gig. Freedom to use your time as you wish is great.

Retirement is not all that great.
You get up in the morning with nothing to do and go to bed at night only half done.
You no longer get those hourly breaks.
There are no vacation days to look forward to.
Wednesday is no longer the "over the hump" day.
No more paid holidays.
Everyday is Sunday.
You can throw that watch away that your children gave you as a present.

Now tell me just what is so great about retirement.

BTW--WELCOME to the MOC Family.

Yep. I wake up each morning with nothing to do, all day to do it and very rarely get it all done. I also say "I am on the road to nowhere and don't care if I ever get there!" Ah yes, RETIREMENT, It isn't what it is cracked up to be, IT IS WAY BETTER..... Welcome to the "Best Darned Forum on the WWW!" Enjoy that Montana and the lifestyle.....

Ah! Yes! Retirement!
Every day I don't start doing anything until noon time, and I don't do it twice.

It's so terrible not having any job responsibilities, except for DW's.

Another retirement problem for me is I have way too much FREE time on my hands and therefore I get to spend way too much time on the MOC.

Man I just gotta get a job.............................NOT!!!!

Decisions are terrible when you retire. We have to decide in the morning if we want to head back to the stick house, or take a detour down via Corpus Christi, or just where our next stop is going to be.

Decisions, decisions! It rough being retired.

Here is why I hate retirees, they always shop every day after working hours and weekends when we poor working folk have to shop and stand behind them in lines.
and the biggest reason is......
because we are not one!! Can't wait until we can retire so I can do the same!
Welcome Mike & Deb from Mike & Deb.
Best bunch of people and info here. Have a ball.

Amen, Orv! As for the shopping after hours, it is an unwritten "rule" that we (retirees) aren't allowed to shop after hours or on weekends. We have all day during the week to get our shopping done! We remember the days of looking forward to retirement. We've been fulltiming for about 18 months and still can't believe how great it is. Hang in there - your turn is coming.

My retirement starts January 29, 2010. I have started to plan our trip. Planning to go down the eastern seaboard then across to the west and then head back home for summer through Canada. Anyone who has some great ideas for stops along the way let us know

I'm at the threshold of making a retirement decision this week and the posts here are solidifying my choice to go forward with it. After being with the same high tech company for 35 years it will be a big change but I think I'm going to love it. I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left. Looking forward to meeting up with many of you on the road someplace.

A day in the life of this retiree...

Wake up at 4:30AM
Get a cup of coffee.
Sit OUTSIDE on the patio and take in the beautiful Florida weather.
Go in and check out the MOC and Make a couple replies.
5:30AM join the boys for more coffee and a ton of BSing.
7:00AM back to the trailer and check out the HONEY DO list. 10 Honey Do's listed. All 10 can be put of until tomorrow or the next day.
8:00AM Hang out with some friends for more coffee and BSn
12 Noon take a nap.
1:30 get a bite to eat.
2:00 more BSn
5:00PM eat dinner
5:30 - 6:00 take another nap.
6:00 til ??? Play cards and more BSn
9:30PM Check out the MOC
10:00PM bed time.

The toughest part of the day is realizing I gotta do it all over again tomorrow.
BUT I do occasionally change my routine.
Today's a good example, at this time (7:45AM) I should be reading the Honey Do's and not on the MOC but the Honey Do list will just have to wait til tomorrow.
