AC settings #1 & #2

2011 Big Sky 3580RL. Added the second AC about a year ago and have not been using if much till the last month. The RV was already set up for a second unit by having the wireing and 2 stage thermostat. My question is when I turn the unit on both of the units start. I have tried several things to make it so I could run with only 1 of the units but nothing I do seems to help. What is the secret to choosing one or both units? When at home I have a 30 amp service for the RV and do not want to have both units start up and blow a circuit.

Thanks for any help.

Frank

On ours we can pick the zone and then move it to off. The other zone will continue to do what it was set to do. The only way to turn both off at the same time, on ours, is to flip the switch to off or adjust each zone to off individually.

If you are wired correctly, your t'stat should show 2 zones, 1 being the rear and 2 the front. Choose a zone, then the mode you want. Then make a fan selection. Auto will cycle with compressor. Choosing low, med, or high will produce a continuous run of the fan. The off/on switch on the bottom is for power to system.

I have a 2013 Mountaineer and call me dumb, but the only way I have operated my bedroom, second A/C, is manually. If it was installed at the factory, does my thermostat control the second unit also. Still pretty new at this and learning from all you guys experience. Thanks.

I suspect if it was factory installed, you should have a 2 zone thermostat. That said, my 2nd was added later and doesn't even have a manual control that I'm aware of.

I had the second with manual control. This summer I replaced the control module on it so I could orperate it with the remote thermostat. As said before zone 1 is the living room and zone2 is the bedroom. Both work independent of each other.

Our 2012 Mountaineer had the second AC installed as well and it was a manual control unit and the Mountainer models, at least in 2012, only pre-wired the 120Volt for the AC and did NOT run the Thermostat wire to 12 volt or does not have a Zone 2 wire coming from the main thermostat. My wife and I converted our manual AC to a Thermostat that we installed by the bedroom door and pulled the wires ourselves and connected the 12 volts for a thermostat. I think you have a manual system in teh bedroom NOT connected to teh thermostat. Your delivering dealer should be able to tell you.

Our 2009 3400 RL 10th Anniversary, the factory installed front AC is zone 1 and the rear ac is zone 2.
