Brand Spankin' New!

Hello everyone. We just bought our first ever 5th wheel from Larry Sessoms (aka Hook) and he encouraged us to join the group and be active. I still have many more years to work at Branch Banking and Trust, but am looking forward to retiring one day and living the RV life. Until then, we will have to settle for vacations a few times a year and quick weekend getaways.

Can anyone recommend a great campground in the NC Mountains? Remember, we are new to pulling a 39' 5th wheel, so we would like somewhere spacious and definitely pet friendly. Our miniature schnauzer Maxx is the boss of this RV!

Thanks for letting us join you and I hope to meet more camping friends really soon!

Hopefully Larry mentioned to you the upcoming Mid-Atlantic Rally at Mt. Airy the first week of August. It would be a great opportunity to learn more about the MOC, meet members first-hand, and show off your new rig! Welcome to the forum!

Larry mentioned the rally and I would love to attend. How can I get more information on the location/reservations, etc?

We have stayed several times at Holly Cove RV park http://www.hollycovervresort.com/sea...r-Cherokee-NC/near Whittier, NC (not far from Cherokee, Bryson City, Sylva. Also, near Waynesville at Creekwood Farm RV http://www.creekwoodfarmrv.com/.

Lot's more possibilities, but these are ones we have stayed in.

Welcome aboard! Thanks for your business. You will find friendly, nice people here. Jim and Vicky Fischer (NCFischers)
are the wagon masters for the Mid Atlantic Rally. They are from New Bern NC and good people. The rally will be in Mt Airey NC at Mayberry Campground.
We are glad to have you and David as MOCers. You will fit right in. There is a great amount of RV wisdom here. Ask questions, someone here will surely have the answer. Call me if you have trouble registering for the MA and I will guide you. Thanks again, HOOK

You have joined a great family. Enjoy Jim and Vickie's rally.
Ref new to 5th wheel. Take it to an empty parking lot and make turns. watching the lines to get a great feel on how it turns so you can set up for them in the future. Then work on backing. I you have towed before you will notice the fifth wheel is slow responding then comes around quick. So pull twice to three time farther forward and start backing into your spot. Practice, Practice, Practice, and more Practice will help a lot. A wealth of info here don't be afraid to ask questions.
OOPS - Welcome to the Forum/family.

Welcome to the MOC family, as you can already see you will find a wealth of information and friendship during your time here. We, as well, have a mini schnauzer by the name of Heidi that runs our ship, enjoy!!!

Congratulations on the new Montana and welcome to the MOC. Talking of retiring around this group becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. First they get you to the rallies and then they get there early and stay late - 'cause they're retired. Eventually it gets to you to the point you join them. But then you get to come early and stay late with a great group of people.

We like to go to Maggie Valley. Maybe we could make a joint trip there and you could be our guests at Pride Resort, where we are members.
