Honor Flight

Tonight, at 7:30 PM, we will be at our local airport to greet our WWII veterans when they return on their Honor Flight to Washington, DC to visit the memorials. They leave this A.M. for the day trip on a chartered flight. Several thousand people are expected to be there to honor these men and women that gave us what we have today.

We just came back from the airport. What a moving experience. There was a red carpet from the gate to the parking lot that was lined with people. On either side of the carpet, shoulder to shoulder stood Junior ROTC, Young Marines, Boy scouts, Knights of Columbus, and Marines with a sea of people behind them singing, waving flags, cheering and shouting USA,USA. The Fire Department ladder truck had a large flag flying overhead and everyone was shaking hands and thanking the Vets. It was a nice tribute to the Greatest Generation.

My hat is off to WW11 vets. My Dad was British Infantry on D Day, and an American GI saved his life on Day 2.
I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that GI.
