We know some people who have taken RV caravan tours. The upside is that everything is planned for you, some meals are included, tours (with tour buses) are included, you meet lots of wonderful people and make lasting friendships, and if something goes wrong there is some support.
The downside is you cannot go where you want when you want, if you want to stay somewhere longer you cannot, and as Mike & Lorraine said, they are quite restrictive. Oh yes, they are also quite expensive compared to if you took the same trip on your own.
We have never taken one because we like to do our own thing and also because of the cost factor. Enough people like this kind of travel to make them keep doing it. It's just a personal choice.
