Tow vehicle tires

I am needing to replace the tires on my 2016 Ram 2500 diesel 4x4. Any suggestions on a tire that will last pulling my 5er? My SO is a traveling nurse who moves all over the USA, it also is her daily driver. We move every 3-6 months.

I have a similar truck and use BF Goodrich A/Ts because they are one of the few truck tires that have a three ply sidewall.

My Ram came with Firestone Transforce. No complaints, no problems. At 30k miles went to Michelins and noticed improvement in ride comfort and wear. I think Michelin is the standard by which others are judged. I never heard of any other brand being better.

We put Coopers on our Tow Vehicle two years ago and I can't tell that they have had any wear at all. We've been to AZ twice, to the Fall Rally twice, our Regional Rally twice, several othering trips of 500 miles +, and up to last year the vehicle was used as my daily wheels and I would say we have put on over 16,000 miles and they are still in perfect shape.

Defenders are the best choice for a tow vehicle.
Quiet and long wearing, great wet traction.

I have had no luck with Coopers, they wear way too fast, but are relatively inexpensive.......

Had Firestone TransForce on one, but they have terrible wet traction and hard as a rock.

I will be the odd ball again. Just last week doe to the Sailuns performing so well on the campers I had Sailun Terramax LT275/70R/18 installed on my 2012 F350 cc 4 x 2. Have only been run about 500 miles and none of it towing but drive very smooth and quiet. 4 tires out the door to include an alignment on truck was $694.00.

Had Michelin LTX AT2, never happy with rain and snow performance. Went to Goodyear Adventure AT w/kevlar, notable improvement and 60k warranty.

My 2018 Dodge has Firestone Transforce HT they are a great tire and can handle the wait of the 5er.

On my third set of Firestone Transforce ATs on my 2006 F250. Put over 70k miles on the last set with no issues.

Hello,

I was running the Holy Michelin the last 4,000mls and going to return them now.
Not happy at all.
They are only more comfortable when riding around town with city speed.
On Highway speed its a different story.
My focus is always to have good wet performance on a tire.
This is where I am the most unsatisfied with the Michelins. They spin all the time at the rear end.
ABS kicks in when touching the brakes even on dry roads. :O
Switch off Slip Control and you are a heck of a rear end sliding cowboy.
Fun sometimes - sure but not always.
Pulling the Monti starting on a wet slope or hill makes them spin too.
Needed to switch on 4WD...
At this price point - totally not impressed at all.

After the wet performance on the Michelins I do not want to have them on snow

Would say they are slightly better than my OEM Firestone Transforce AT's (which have also a wet issue)
I have been very happy on Continental AT's - Comfy and great on wet and even on snow.
I changed from the Contis as I had some balancing issues on that 2. set so I thought give the famous Michelins a shot.
Stupid me...

I will try the new Cooper AT3 XLT as next.
As its the latest tire on the market I am hopeful to have good experiences with them.
At least they won't look as boring as the Michelins

Mike

Edit: I had the Michelin Defender LTX M/S in LT295/65 R20

I have run Cooper LT235/85/R16 on my F350 dully for serveral years, pulling not only the Montana yet also multiple horse trailers. 80 PSI in the rear and 60 PSI in the front. Never an issue.

I have run a lot of different tires on a lot of different trucks over the years. Cooper AT3 is the best by far.

Anyone tried BFGoodrich KO2 all terrain tires?. I have them on my daily driver which is a 1989 Toyota Pickup. I been super impressed with them ride, traction, rain and snow performance and wear are all exceptional. However this truck is not a tow vehicle. Can anyone speak from experience regarding using them on a 5th Wheel towing truck? Are they available in load range E and F?
