rkassl,
I felt the same and the tech may have wanted to make a quick sell and not worry about my safety, I will buy the wheels to match the tires.
thank you

I really love my new Goodyear tires. It was very windy and the trailer sway was minimal. It is a really different looking tire. The sidewalls are VERY stiff, I could not squeeze them with my hand. Also they run very cool too.

we are attaching a blue ox platform with a swivel wheel to the rear so we can take our Harley with us and want to keep it safe, hopefully the goodyears will do the trick.

BF Goodrich has 16 inch tires rated for 3,415# @ 80 psi here is an extract from their website:

LT265/75R16/E 123/120R RBL 87745 268-169 7.0 - 8.0 10.4 on 7.5 31.7 14.5 661 3415@80

I am probably wrong, but I thought that the axles are 6,000 lbs each. It was stated here that they have 7,000 lbs which would give the coach 14,000 lb carrying capacity on the axles + the kingpin weight would well exceed the GVWR. Or did Keystone upgrade the axles after 2004 and I did not know it????

Ken,
Thanks. That is what is one mine as well.

If the tires are rated for 3,042 lbs each that would be 6,084 per axle which is within the specs of the coach. I am wondering why the folks told Helen and Bill that the tires are not up to par for their coach??

Rkassl, with the stiffer sidewalls do you notice things moving around more on the inside of the rig? Thanks.

As soon as we get the written report from the experts? we will share it with you. There was a long line of people getting weighed so thay didn't take a lot of time explaining things to us. In the mean time, we have 25,000 miles on these tires and would like them to last until we get back from Alaska if possible before we make any changes.

Helen,
How are your tires wearing? Have you had any trouble with them to indicate they are not up to the job of hauling the coach around?

Dave, our tires are looking very good. They are wearing very evenly with no flat spots at all. We do have to add air often. That has been a problem from day one. We took all for wheels in and had them resealed but we still leak some very slowly. We do have the aluminum wheels so don't know if that is the problem. Bill keeps a very close watch on the tires and we carry an air compresser with us.

Helen,
That makes me feel better about the tires on my Montana. You have twice as many miles on your coach as I do mine, and so far they have also been wearing very well. I have the aluminum wheels and so far they seem to hold 80 psi all summer. This winter they did loose 4 lbs while sitting in the garage for 6 months, but that is to be expected with the extreme cold temps we get up here.

Helen, when I built my 36 ford I put cast aluminum wheels on it. One of them would hold air very long. I finally had the tire/wheel combination dunk tested and there was a flaw in the casting with a very very small void in the casting. Could this possible be your problem with air retention?

Steves, which model BFG is that? A couple of months ago we put a set of BFG Commercial T/A LR E tires on this Montana. I guess I could crawl under the slides tomorrow to check the weight rating.
