Alt. route for I-10 through Louisiana

Here's some unsolicited advice for anyone traveling East from Texas to Florida.
We just tried going north on 12 out of Beaumont, TX to 190 through Kinder (great casino RV Park there) coming back to I-10 at Baton Rouge.
The road was much better for us, no jarring bumps or continuous truck traffic pushing us along. The travel is slower at 55, plus lots of small towns with 45 and 35 MPH limits, but we were in no hurry and enjoyed the trip.

That route will be our choice to avoid LA I-10 in the future.

Jerry, thanks for the tip. I'm still working on several routes for when we leave here. Depending on weather we could go straight south before turning east. Your route would then be our route of choice, too. We like that kind of road. Far more interesting and Vicki actually stays awake. On interstates she tends to snooze (not driving).

If one is not in a hurry the route that Jerry describes is a very comforting and relaxing drive. Another reason to take US 190 is the continuous bumping of trailer to TV hitch caused by the concrete expansion joints on I-10. Louisiana is improving I-10, but between Vidor, Tx. and Crowley, La. it is rough.

Steve, if you go that route plan a stop at Coushatta Indian Casino in Kinder. Two for one nite with coupon in trailer life. $17 wkday, $22 weekend.
Good food at reasonable prices. Slots were mean to me, nicer to Karen.

Thanks Jerry. We are heading to Gulf Shores, Ala tomorrow morning from San Antonio. Been trying to decide if we wanted to sake, rattle, and roll, so I thi nk we will take 190, sounds much better. Take care.
