Michelle, as usual, is right on the money. What you don't want to do is run the battery or batteries down to the point where they are damaged or totaled. Our rigs do have a good deal of phantom loads (read all the little lights that glow in the dark). So. like Michelle, when we didn't have a good battery monitoring system and because we would stay overnight without being plugged in we had two group 29's.
