Fantastic Fans
We seem to be having an awful lot of trouble with these fantastic fans. Got the directions out did what it said and they still wouldn't work. Then just punched buttons and whalla --- they came on. Don't know what I did. But sure would like to do it again.

Wiggle the fuse holder, worked for me, and now continues to come on without any additional problems. Ron

I'm sure you are aware of this but thought that they may require turning on a wall switch in addition to all the switches on the Fantastic Fan. I have to turn on the wall switch (and then turn off the associated 12v ceiling lights) before my fans will run.
Another gotcha on mine is the thermostat. I have to turn the thermostat if it is cooler than the thermostat setting before the fan will turn on.
And of course the open/close switch must be in the open position and the fan speed must be set to something other than "zero".
Oh and the fan's rain sensor must mot be detecting any moisture. For instance, if I take a shower and then try to turn the fan on it won't start because of the moisture from the shower. (Be sure to start the fan before getting in the shower.)
And yes, "good luck!". Because with all these controls and settings, it seems that the Fan sometimes has a mind of its own!

I hate to say it, but I'm still having trouble with the cover sticking closed. The dealer tried to fix the problem, but after the fan is off for a few days it will not open without a friendly nudge.WD40 is not the answer, so I'm still searching for a solution.

Emmel, I also did the WD-40 thing and it did not work so now I am doing Petroleum Jelly and it has been over two months sence I have had to go up and pry it open. I put it on kind of heavy. Maybe this will work for you.

I hear the manufacturer for the fantastic fans has one of the best reputations for customer service in any industry. If your manual has an 800 number you might give them a call.

I second the suggestion for calling the company. I did with my first unit. They were super nice and very helpful and they even sent me a "Feeling Fantastic" mug!

I wouldn't use the WD40. It has a petroleum product in it and will rot the seal.
The manufacturer, if contacted at 1-800-521-0298, and told about the problem will send you free samples of #303 Lubricant which will solve your problem.
If you are having problems with the fan switch at the ceiling staying on automatic they will send you a new one.

The manufacturer has excellent customer service. They'll likely tell you exactly what to do to it and will send replacement parts if needed, likely for free. I've heard of a person calling them after theirs was several years old to tell them they lost the lid (blew off or something) and they were sent the replacement parts for no charge. I can't guarantee the no charge but I'd sure call them to ask about this problem. Might be worth your time to call them. Your call, of course.

Just a quick comment about WD-40. A great product, but its not for everything. It was made to be a "water displacement" product, thus the WD. While it does lubricate as well, it leaves a residue that over time becomes "sticky" instead of slippery. For pure lubricating, some of the other products such as 303 are much more appropriate.
