Dometic Refrigerator drain hose

I remember a discussion on the hose replacement but I have searched and didn't find it. I need a new hose so I went to a dealer and he pulled it up at $17.95 from Dometic with a part number to go with it, I think not.

I went to a campground that has a repair shop on site and they didn't know what I was talking about but did say if I bought it from Dometic it won't be cheap.

I got some clear tubing the right size and plan to use it if I can't find the same type that came on the refrigerator. Seems Dometic has a part number for the hose and I have not been able to find any like they use. Maybe they are the only source?

Advice on getting a replacement like Dometic's or using the clear I have would be appreciated. I think the concern would be clamping the hose to prevent it from getting against hot tubes?

Cyrus, I hope you didn't lose the little drain filter on the end and try to replace it. Dometic charges $7 to $8 depending where you get it, CW or your dealer!

I would look through that thread and replace it with something different than the Dometic hose. The factory hose has shown issues with UV.

At those prices, why take it in the shorts twice?

Thanks SlickWillie for the link to old post on the subject. Emmel I didn't loose the drain filter, thank goodness. bsmeaton, I have bought some clear hose that is the same size as the ribbed hose and plan to give it a try before spending $17 for a $3 piece of hose. The plan to fix it so it doesn’t touch any of the hot pipes.

I started to replace the hose today but could not get the drain out from inside the refrigerator and can’t reach it from the outside vents. Didn’t want to break the plastic drip catcher so decided I needed to do some more research.
I ended up with my son-in-law and we took a look at his SOB, which is the same year as mine. His hose is black, not brittle and strapped to the inside of the camper so the water drips into the cover opening, not shoved through the opening and not exposed to the sun like mine is. Also his gas lines are coved with plastic tubing, no exposed insulation and the whole installation looks more professional then my unit.
I went back to look at attaching my hose to the top of the vent opening so the water could drip into the cover opening and out of the camper without exposing the plastic line. The hose up inside the unit was not brittle and long enough to do it.
Maybe I have delayed this task for another year?
