New Roof

I have a 2005 2955RL that I have maintained and constantly upgraded since I bought it. After 11 years of service the roof will soon need to be replaced before it begins to leak. My rig is now stored in a garage. What can you Mocs recommend.

Wait until you need a roof.

What makes you think it will need replaced? If you inspect it and everything is tight I would wait till it needs it. It's not a cheap fix. Probably in the 4-5k range.

What you should be checking is the caulking around vents,AC unit and seams front and rear where the EPDM roof material meets the fiberglass. You should use Dycor self leveling caulk.Dycor has a vedio on how to inspect prep and apply this product. The EPDM roof should be good on a 2005 unit but should be inspected for physical damage.

I'm in agreement with all the above.

If you decide to replace it, I'd look into FlexArmor. A friend of mine had one put on about four years ago and really likes it. It is one nice looking, tough product.

Me too. Those rubber roofs are tougher than you think

Actually, if you keep the caulk up to snuff and repair any tears, the membrane should last a really long time. The white outer ablative coat will slowly wash off (that's what causes all that streaking on the sides of a trailer), and eventually you will begin to see the black membrane itself. Your roof is still good even then, although it may not look all that great and will get hotter than before. You only have to replace it when the black rubber starts to crack.

I have an 04 2980rl and I just had my roof cleaned and resealed along with all the old caulking removed and new calking put on at camping world. I have a bunch of black spots all over the roof but it still in good shape the only things that see it are birds and plains, just so long as it don't leak.
