Battery Hookup Issue

Hi Everyone, Just confirming my two batteries should be hooked-up in parallel rather than what is depicted on the picture. On the attached picture, one battery is hooked to the level up system (on the right) and the other battery (on the left) is hooked to the rest of the fiver's electrical system. I believe the batteries should be attached in parallel with pigtail cables (pos to pos and neg to neg) with the level up and fiver positive cables attached to one battery's positive terminal and the two negative cables attached to the other battery's negative terminal. Also, on the far left of the pic, I have two pos/neg cables to the generator that were pigtailed to terminals outside the battery box that could be attached to the main batteries, as well. What do you think?
Thanks,
Mike

Look like 12vdc batteries in which case they should be connected in parallel. And the battery on the left has its ground wire going somewhere other than the same ground point on the frame structure for some reason. If you want some improvement, I would remove the screw used to hook the right battery negative ground to the frame, grind off paint on the top and bottom, install a bolt with the head from underneath and a lock washer and nut tightened against the frame...then use another nut to attach the cable to this "stud" that you installed.

Forgot to mention the level up connection should be from battery to one side of the bi-metallic breaker and the other terminal of that breaker up to the level up system.

Okay, thanks! Just what I needed. Good tip on the ground wires.

Unless you are seeing something different in the pic, I believe the bimetal circuit is already in place so I just need to hook up the levelups positive lead to the battery. Am I correct?

How are you getting both batteries charged? We have two group 27 batteries connected in parallel, connected to the system as a pair, and have never had a issue.

I think keeping it connected to shore power when camping/stored has save us from a dead battery. Dealer said the factory installed the batteries this way. Previous fiver with dual/parallel battery set-up no problem.

Yep, did the google/youtube basic research which I tried to recap in original post. Just looking for additional insights on the matter from resident experts on the forum.

The factory does not install the battery's! The dealer installs the battery's when they sale the unit to you.

Make it simple. Run a connector from positive to positive and another from negative to negative. Verify that there is a good ground connection. Use a minimum of #6 wire on the ground connection and on the connections between the batteries.

Agree. Also the one battery to ground with a disconnect to the frame when storing, eliminating disconnecting the cable. The other battery from positive to Rig power.
