I just traded our 2955RL for a 3295RK. I note that the popular upgrade is to the 3400. Did I do it all wrong?

Nope ..The 3295 is also very a very popular model and not so long ago was Montana's best seller. It is still very close to the top. The model you chose is a matter of what serves your needs best. Right now the 3400 is like the hulla hoop was..everyone wants one..it will pass to another model down the road.

Just because Tom, Dick and Harry buy a 3400 doesn't make the 3295 a less desirable unit. I am about to buy a new model, the 3485RL, and so far there have been more critics of the 3485 than those in favor. Does that mean I am doing something wrong?? I think not! I am buying the unit that will fit for Lorraine and my needs and not the least bit concerned about what others are doing and neither should you. If the 3295 suits your needs than your decision was a good one. Before the 3400 was introduced the 3295 was one of the more popular units and is still a very popular unit today yet.

I think all the models are popular at one time or another. Everyone has THEIR favorite one, and that's all that matters. Period. With everyones improvements, no two are alike anyway!

When we get our Monty, I believe we will get the 3295. We love all of the Montana's but you have to choose what will work best for you. It seems you have to give up one thing to gain another and so need to decide which features are most important to you. For me, having the desk away from the TV was important as I work on a computer all day at home and plan to work in the RV. Husband likes to watch TV and I need a little work area/my own space where the TV hopefully won't bother me. Husband wanted an RV that he could pull with a F250. After looking at all of the Montana's, we just keep coming back to the 3295. We love all the storage space it offers too.

I love the 3400 too for several reasons but we both love that 3295 and it seems to fit our needs the best.

There is no wrong model. 1 year ago we purchased what we thought was the perfect unit. Then our needs changed and we just purchased a different one. You will be happy with what ever you purchase.

As others have noted, your choice must depend on your needs!!! Our first unit was a 3295RK. I (Joyce) loved the floorplan because I enjoy cooking and this model has the biggest and nicest kitchen with the most storage space. After two years in the 3295RK we traded for the 3475RL. The reason??? Tom wanted a larger living room with two recliners and the big window. First of all I must say when we moved our personal items from the 3295RK to the 3475RL we had a hard time finding a place for everything. The 3295RK definitely had more storage space. As for giving up my bigger kitchen this was done with a compromise that we would eat out more often!! I have gradually gotten used to the smaller kitchen but I still prefer the larger kitchen in the 3295....but I must admit we are both enjoying the nice living room and each of us having our own recliner....and we have found some great restaurants...TeeHee So you see there are pros and cons for all models. Each year there seems to be something coming out that is different, I think that is called marketing. Choose what is best for you. You will enjoy the 3295RK or any Montana floor plan you choose.

The greatest thing that we the buyers have when it comes to buying an RV is OPTIONS! There is no right or wrong floorplan or options, it all comes down to your personal choice. Enjoy your new 3295RK, it is a nice floorplan.

No, you didn't make a mistake. We bought a 3555RL in 2000 and it was the best for us AND still is. We've looked at the 3400, 2955, and several others. But by far, for us, the 3555RL meets our needs. We've never found one that measures up to it--even other manufacturers! Don't let anyone tell you that you made a mistake. What fits you is best.

After the rally,seeing all the models, Kelly and I were smitten with the3400 until we studdied the stats. Our old2850 has 100lbs. more capacity than the 3400. the 3295 has 1000lbs more carrying cap.and has the same upper floorplan (washer down below) We have just ordered our 3295 in sapphire with the NEW speckled carpet WE# ARE EXCITED!!!!!! For part time use, we are happy with the 2955RL and the nice thing about that is when everyone goes on about how big it is , I get to tell them it is the baby of the Montana line up.
Nobody believes me. In Canada, the number of full profile Fivers is a small fraction of the middle and low height Fivers and these are usually under 26 feet long.

I find it hard to believe that the low bedroom Fivers ever got as popular as they did. Can you really think of anything more frustrating than walking around the bedroom bent over so you don't smack your head. They must have been designed by a dwarf.

I know in the USA, people must enjoy standing up in the bedroom because you see a lot of high Fives down there. Good deal.

Well have to admit just spent an evening in Gina's mom and dads 3295 and Wow what a Monty. I liked it the first time I saw it but to spend some time in it and see what they have done to it.... Double wow

They have some extra options that I would not have thought of. Compared to the 3400RL we will have. They have a neat little ice maker set up on the computer desk and a full size square deep freeze just off the end of the counter in the center. With all this extra space used they can still get the slides in and not run into any space problems. They did raise the deep freeze on a couple of 2x4s so the slide could go under it. For myself I will have to go outside because my deep freeze (travels in the MC trailer when moving) will have to go under the front outside and ice maker into the storage underneath. For fulltiming the 3295 is a very good choice not to mention they moved the washer dryer area to the same place as the 3400 on the new floorplplan. We will still love our 3400 but if it wasn't the 3400 it would be the 3295 for sure.

You did NOT make a mistake the 3295...... thumbs up times two.

What makes you happy works the best, especially if the lovely lady of the rv is happy. We have been in our 3000RK for a month now and it suits us perfectly. Love the rear kitchen, DW's choice, and I never thought I would.

Like the others have said, what suits you the best is what you have to go with. There is no right or wrong model. If we ever decided to trade our Monty in, the 3295RK would be right at the top of the list of considerations. Enjoy making that 3295 unique for you and enjoy many safe and happy miles.

If your happy with it, then it's the one for you. Phyllis and I love our 3280RL. We've never had a problem wih it,(knock on wood), and the floor plan is just right for us

Illapah, we put 50k miles on our 2003 3295RK and were very happy with it. We traded for a 3400 but still like the 3295 a lot. The 3295 has the most kitchen counter space and most storage in the rig. It's a great model. Pinweight is a bit heavy but it tows beautifully. Good luck with it!

By the way, carrying capacity numbers are a bit suspect. CC in the brochure is the difference between GVWR and empty weight. GVWR is figured by taking empty pinweight and adding it to axle capacity. Since the 3400 has a lighter pinweight (by a big margin in the brochures) it thus gets a lighter CC. But, Dave, you are getting a terrific model!

As other have said you need to pick a coach to fit your needs. The only Montana model we liked has been discontinued, the 3670. Lucky for us we ordered our 06 just as they were closing the line down. We love the open plan. We have so much counter space and the whole unit just feels right to us!
