RV Texans

JUST AN OBSERVATION
There cannot be that many older Texan RV'ers left in Texas. Most of them appear to be in Colorado. Came to this conclusion by observing the number of Texas plates in at least four campgrounds.

We've got them here too. Of course it could be that the vehicles are only registered in Texas. Here it's about a $1500 difference if you want to be a Kansas RVer.

We have many Texas plates in my park up in MN. Majority of them are workers who are working road construction across the state. The flock north to work on the roads during our short summer months and then head back south to work those roads in the winter months. At least that is what the group is doing that is across for me.

Anytime we see texas, florida, SD tags far from those states, we immediately think fulltimers!

Most of us Texas RVers have learned to escape the heat whenever possible. Posted from Vallecita Lake, Colorado.

Some of the Texans you see may be members of the Escapees RV club based in Livingston, Texas, who are actually from other states but have established residencies in Texas for various reasons. We are native Texans who lived in Montana for the last 10 years. We've back in Texas now and are have to go through the process ourselves of re-establishing a residency here. We'll then have Texas registrations for and Texas license plates on our vehicles as well as Texas driver's licenses. As I said, we're the real deal--natives. But many people from other states do the same thing for tax and insurance reasons (among other things).

We lived at the KOA park in Dillon, Montana, for a year, and were always excited to see rigs with Texas plates pull in, but 9 times out of 10, those people were actually from other states and had the Texas plates only because they'd established residencies in Texas through Escapees.

You said that with much, much, much more tact than I did when we lived in Colorado.

We are at a large RV park near South Fork CO. They claim 450 RV sites + a number of cabins and a few motel rooms. I would guess at least half have Texas plates.

We are in Colorado with Texas tags. We wish we were at our house here but the fire has forced us to the KOA in Wellington. And Bigmurf, we know exactly what you mean. Terrie is a Colorado native. Me, I'm from Iowa and I just go where I'm told.

Texas truck plates, Texas RV plates, Texas taxes.

Born and raised here and through all of our travels still love the Texas hill country even the ones on a cruise ship.

I can escape the temperatures when it gets hot.... just as others escape the cold. I would rather have some warmer days than colder days. Hate the beach and this is from a person that cruises a bunch.

Guess I am Goldie Locks.

Nah, we just annexed Colorado and Wyoming as northern counties of the Texas Panhandle . :-) It gives us a cool place to visit in the summer and they can apply for citizenship and those fabulous Texas license plates.

Driftwood gal, the Hill Country is beautiful. We visited Fredericksburg this spring to see the Bluebonnets. We are enjoying being Texans but look forward to having Colorado plates.

Spotted a Texan last weekend in a park here in California! We promised him we would not tell anyone. I lied!

He was probably from Austin where he moved to from Ca. I think 80 percent of Austin is from Ca., you can tell from all the organic all natural bean sprout cafe's there now. lol lol....Going to cooler temps kinda backfired on us since it was 109 in Little Rock and Memphis and then the next day it was 111 in Nashville, plus 160 percent humidity...It was cooler in Texas lol lol

Ron and Terrie,

Not sure when you were hear this year to see the bluebonnets, but this was one of the best we have ever had. I hope you drove towards the Mason area as the wild flowers on the highway between Fredricksburg and Mason are some of the best.

If you are ever back in this area please let us know. We love to meet fellow MOC members. We live in the Driftwood area.... thus the screen name. Driftwood is near Dripping Springs.
