Bathroom sink is clogged

My bathroom sink drain in my 2011 Montana High Country is almost fully clogged. The sink is the style which sits on top of the counter top. The drain is the style when you push down on it one time it locks closed and when you push down again it opens. I'm going to take the trap apart tomorrow but I know the pipe above the trap will also need cleaning. It would be simple if the drain valve comes apart. HELP please.

I figured it out. With the drain valve open, I was able to grab the cap and forcefully unscrew it. Once it broke loose, it unscrewed easily. Found a couple of safety pins on top of the inner strainer and some gunk. Cleaned everything up and it works real good now.
