Montana 3605 with a 07 Chevy 6.6 SRW

Is anyone towing a 3605 with a 07 Chevy SB SRW 6.6 Diesel. I want to make sure that I have enough truck for traveling and does anyone think I might need to add air bags to the back. I was also looking at the 3075 but it has a much higher pin weight. Has anyone had any problems with finding campsites also for units over 38'.

It will pull it just fine..Do a check on the cargo capacity for the pin weight issue. We have the 3400 which is over 39 feet long. We always call ahead and let the C.G know what size we are and we have never had a problem. There will be C,G's that you will be to big for but the call ahead solves that problem.

Agree with Rich, it will pull the unit just fine. We have a 3075 using the later 2007 duramax and have no trouble in the Colorado mountains. The weight on the truck with the 3075 with srw axel does not make the truck lower any noticeable amout.

As the others have said...it will pull fine, any diesel will. However, check the cargo capacity on the Tire and Loading Information sticker (left rear door post). When you compare that figure with the loaded pin weight, weight of the hitch, passengers, tools, and other stuff in our trucks, your 3/4 ton will most likely exceed its GVWR.

There are some CGs where length is a problem, we call ahead if there is any doubt.

After you are loaded for travel, get to some truck scales and get your weights. It is important to know you pin weight.

All diesels will haul any Montana anywhere in the country, they are all turbos so the engine does not know it's in the mountains like a gasser does. However,as noted by other posters, pin weight is the key issue with any 250/2500 truck. Most cannot handle the pin weight of a Montana and stay in specs.

We're towing a 2008 3400 with our 3/4 6.6 Chev 4/4 and it handles nicely. Weight-wise, it's right at correct setup as we don't load the TV or Montana down. We get 13.5 to 14.5 mpg towing at speeds of 60-65 tops. Without the Montana we close in on 20 MPG's. I'm not a "hurky-jerky" driver which may help with towing and mpg performance. No airbags and the truck appears level, but in reality maybe down a little.
Been to at least 2 CG's that were tight and back-ins that caused the front to be right up to the lane but not a problem yet. It's best to mention your length and number of slide-outs when calling the CG's in advance.

I pulled some heavy rigs in the western mountains with a 3/4 ton srw dodge diesel. I had no trouble pulling. I had some scary moments trying to stop, though. I traded for the 2008 1 ton diesel for the new tranny and the exhaust brake. I am much happier now and feel safer, if nothing else.

I pull my 3650RK with a 97 Ford 350SRW. It pulls my trailer with no problems. A little slow up steeper hills, but we get up.I have put on rear bags. They take out want little bounce there was. The biggest thing is the stopping power. If your trailer brakes fail can your truck stop your truck and the trailer....
