I installed a pair on my 06 Dodge Diesel 2500 QC 4x4 before our first trip with our then new 07 Montana Mountaineer 336RLT.I didn't like the way the truck squatted down under the load (before installation) though only slightly. They are easy to install and work well. With the trailer & truck fully loaded with myself and DW plus the camping Collies
the truck sits very close to level. When unloaded they don't activate, can't even tell their on there.
WE have since upgraded our tow vehicle to a super low mileage 06 Dodge Diesel 3500 4x4 QC DRW LWB.Here are my reasons for the upgrade, the max recommended payload for my 2500 is 2071 lbs.The max recommended payload for my 3500 is 4634 lbs (2563 more payload lbs). The spec hitch weight of the Mountaineer is 2090 lbs in the brouchure. The 2500 pulls it with ease and we have never had any problems braking etc/etc after many many trips.
I decided to go to a higher capacity payload truck for personal piece of mind, the 3500 has a much larger stability triangle being a LWB/DRW than than our existing 2500 and does the job in my opinion even better.
The 2500 is now my daily driver/backup tv for other tasks and gets well over 19 mpg in town. With that kind of fuel mileage its a keeper!!
These are my reasons and opinions and they are not intended to stir up any controversy on this great forum or on the subject of tow vehicles.
