Bicycle Riding Trails

We have gotten into bicycle riding this year and have our bicycles with us on this summers trek. We live in San Antonio, Tx that has a wonderful system of bicycle/hiking trail that we ride regularly. On this trip we discovered great trails in Minnesota and Michigan. Are there other states with good trails--we are not mountain bikers--we like paved trails with no cars or trucks. Looking for your recommendations for future travels.

Thanks for that great site. Bookmarked for future planning of weekend trips in the vicinity. Lots of possibilities, just have to cross-reference with campgrounds. Thanks again!

Check out the bike trails in green on Google map. You may click on the three lines which brings down a menu to click Bicycle paths. Also do a online search in each area you are in for Bicycle paths. There are many converted rail trails throughout the country which a simple search will point out including maps. We found 100's of miles in MN.

Hwy 30-A between Panama City and Destin Fl. 18 mile paved bike and walking trail. Stay at Topsail Hill State Park CG, great park on west end of 30A. Good riding in park also. 1 mile from RV sites to beautiful beach in park.

We've been in most all states in the east and have found bike trails in every one. There is a public/private funded plan to crisscross the nation with bike trails such that it would be possible to ride most anywhere without having to ride on a public highway.

If ever up here in NE, be sure to check out the Rails-to-Trails network on Cape Cod. It's a converted railway bed and winds all the way down to Provincetown. There are other trails as well, such as the Shining Sea trail in Falmouth that winds up in Woods Hole where the ferry runs to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. There are beautiful views of the seacoast and surrounding area.
