park model type black tank on a fifth wheel

We have a 2003 Montana 3670RL. We have been getting a small leak from the black tank if it gets over half full. It only seems to leak for a minute or so right after the toilet is flushed with a lot of water. Maybe from the contents wave inside the tan? If the water is added slowly it doesn't seem to leak. Anyway I was wondering if it was possible to hook up one of those external black tanks like they use on the park model campers. We don't have any plans (or way) to move the camper from where it is parked. Is this idea because I don't wanna deal with replacing the black tank? Yep.

Because of the way the black tank is layed out as well as the plumbing, you will end up the the pyramid of poop just like the folks who make the mistake of leaving the black tank open all the time.

All the park models I am familiar with do not have black tanks, regular house toilets running into a park sewer system. Some Destination Trailers, that some folks confuse with Park models, do have black tanks, but they are the same tanks used in RV units.

Have you figured out where the leak is coming from? You may just need to seal it with some Flex Seal or something similar.

Perma-tech makes a two part plastic weld that you can seal cracks or holes with, if it is a hole it is best to use some fiberglass window screen along with the plastic weld. Make sure the tank where you are applying the weld is sanded well & cleaned with acetone prior to mixing and applying the weld/screen material. Works well...

pyramid of poop. Now that is a vision that has so far in my camping adventure eluded me. It does seem logical though. Glad I asked before I got too far into this adventure. The pipe from the toilet to the tank runs on an angle so that I can't see into the black tank. I'm wondering if there might be a crack where the pipe connects to the tank from the toilet that would explain why it seems to leak out the bottom if a full bowel of water is flushed. I haven't opened up the bottom yet to look in there.

USB scope camera taped to some romex electrical cable (so you can control and aim the camera). Open a little gap in the edge of your coroplast and slide it in to get a preview of what's going on underneath. Then do the same thing down your toilet and see what's going on inside. Then you can plan your repairs.

Models that old had tanks that were a top and bottom half sealed together. If you filled them too full the seal would eventually split open. If not the 2 halves, then the inlet pipe at the top does the same thing. So the plastic weld sounds like the best idea.

I had a tank that leaked out the top I think. I usually dump before traveling but sometimes didn't. I first noticed a smell when traveling down a very bumpy road and we stopped to stretch. Then later when i parked it at a friends house that had a steep incline to get parked, it smelled again so I knew something was wrong. We dropped the coraplast and he had a pressure sprayer so we cleaned it out and tightened the fitting on the flush line. Didn't travel with contents until home and replaced the tank.

If you are not mobile, a flojet macerater could help.
If you are close enough to a sewer/septic tank this can pump uphill.
If you are not, and get a portable black tank, put it in the back of a pickup and pump out your tank into it. Then you can drive to a dump station and let gravity drain it.
