Denver mattress in 2020 3121rl

We just took delivery of a new 3121rl. Much to my astonishment when I took the bed spread off of the king size mattress I find that it is only 6" thick. I know I should have checked it before signing off on the papers. Are all the mattresses in Montanas like this or did the dealer switch mine out ?
I find it hard to believe that a company would put such a cheap mattress in a 5th wheel and expect to get repeat customers. We called the dealer and they just laughed and said go buy a new mattress. This will be or last Montana and the last rv purchased from this dealer. (this was our 3rd one from them)

Funny you mention this, we measured ours this morning and it’s 7”. Tauted as the best mattress by Denver. We were looking at residential but a real King is 76” of course this king is 72” wide. We have decided to buy a mattress topper so my big butt won’t hit the plywood base when sleeping.

mattress

.I'll have to measure again, maybe it is 7" but it's way to cheap for an rv costing $60,000 plus.

If that is your only problem/complaint on your new purchase, consider yourself very fortunate. I took out the king size "mattress" and put in a 14 inch thick queen size foam mattress from Costco.

Heck no this is not my only complaint, just the first one. I like your idea of going to a queen size, now if I can just convince the wife that we need to spend more money. lol

We've been RVing for over 40 years with all kinds of rigs and a number of brands and we have never kept the original mattress. Manufacturers know that no matter what they put in there you will want something different and so they go with what's cheap.

Same here, we tossed our King after our first trip, cut the plywood frame and bought a 12” dual density foam mattress with “cool” top from Kohl’s and love it. Not to mention much more room now to make the bed and get up at night. Why they think everybody wants King’s I’ll never know!

I had the dealer remove the king size and cut the frame to queen size. Now have a queen standard mattress with a 3" topper.
Am one happy camper.

Really?

ALL RV mattresses suck. Always buy a real mattress when you get a trailer.

You've had 3 trailers and didn't know this?

Our last rv was a 2011 cedar creek touring edition that had a plush trump mattress. Guess I got spoiled.

Funny, we traded our Cedar Creek for a new Montana and the dealer let us move our beloved Trump Serta king mattress into the Montana. This actually let him resell our Cedar Creek with a new mattress as, I think, required. A win win, except that the Trump mattress weighs a ton and required additional support when accessing the under-bed storage. I tend to hate anything that adds weight to my rig but good sleep is a requirement.

Hello Arden
How did the Denver Brand mattress sleep? Or did you only measure it?

Sleeping on the mattress wasn't that great. Unsure if we will try a foam topper or just get a better queen size.

In talking with Keystone management, they said that most everyone will complain about and replace their mattress regardless of whether they put in a Cheapo or a Denver, or a Tempur-Pedic, so they choose to put in a cost effective solution.

There are many furniture category items that you can't win with your pick as a manufacturer. The mattress was our very first upgrade and our sofa was the next one. All of the furniture is an RV is only good enough to get it sold and all manufacturer know you didn't buy the RV because of it's mattress or sofa.

When we first got our 2010 Monty 2955 we thought the mattress was great, it was such an upgrade from our Pop-Ups and TT mattresses. BUT our first attempt at SnowBirding for only three months, we ordered a Sleep Number on our way home. That Sleep Number is now in it third Fifthwheel.

All dealers put in cheaper mattresses. Good luck buying another brand I’ll bet you have the same problem.

Well what did you get with the others units you bought that you were satisfied with. We didn`t even sleep on ours before it went to the dump and replaced with what the wife wanted a 12" inch thick something or other. But we are both under 165 lbs.

I’m late to the party but let me suggest a 4 inch natural latex foam mattress topper. It soft and will support you better than any other foam and will almost never wear out. Since it’s so dense there are no pressure points. I’ve been sleeping on it for 10 years after having several other mattresses.

We have the same unit. I haven’t measured for a new King mattress but the Queen might give more room on the sides. We both use C-paps. We live in it as snowbirds 6 months. Both of us have bad backs. Ugh!! Since it’s a 2020 I will wait until next year. But you are right. The hype isn’t what it appears.
