torque

How much torque do we put on the tires? Is it 120? Also do we still have to retorque every 10-25- and 50 miles when tire is first put back on? on all kinds of wheels. Our wheels are steel.
Thanks
Don and Dusty

Don and Dusty,

I have the aluminum wheels and it says 120 for mine. Everyone I've spoken with suggests to torque after replacing or changing your tires. I had duals sheer off the lugs on an old Class C motorhome just after having new tires put on it.

How's the sale of your home coming so far?

Torque to 120 and grab the torque wrench each time you stop until you get no more movement from the lugs.

I run 110 on my lugs, following the method described by Keystone. Usually after the 50mile check all is tight and unless I take the wheel off, I have not found the lugs to have backed off yet.

A torque check is peace of mind for me. I always check the air pressure and torque before each trip.

Ok thanks for help.
Don has been taking each tire off and having metal valve stems put on. We also had to buy a tire. Got a nail in the sidewall on last trip. That makes two tires that has happen to in last 2 months. One on my SUV had a nail in sidewall. But I had the road hazard warranty, so only cost me for balancing which was about $ll dollars for new tire for the SUV.
