Slide topper

I have a question on toppers. I own a 2018 3120rl and want to install toppers.
My question is on the off driver side over the door is an awning and the slider is within 1.25 inches of the awning hardware. Has anyone installed a topper on this style trailer. It appears to be too close and the hardware will hit as the awning is lowered.

Thanks for any advice or recommendations

They are an option from the manufacturer so I would say yes it can be done. Check with a local dealer and see if they have a 3120 with them that you can look at. Several videos on YouTube with that setup.

they wont install a topper on that slide, like mine the dining room slide has an awning over it. I just use the awning as a topper while parked, if windy or if i'm parked at home, i run it out about 3 feet, weather does not effect it.

There is video on YouTube of one with the slide topper from the factory.

I have a 2019 anniversary edition 3121rl (same model with residential fridge) and I have slide toppers on all 3 slides. I ordered them from the factory with the unit.

Thank you I will check with them. Does your awning arm come close to the slide? Mine is approximately 1.25” away from the awning arm.

The edge of the topper is probably 3 inches from the awning. The awning is slid all the way to the right of the track to give the toppers room. I uploaded a photo hopefully it works and you can see it.

That looks great, exactly what I was hopping for.
Do you happen to have a brand name or recommend one over the other.

Do those with toppers have much issue with them flapping when windy?

I don’t notice any noise from mine in the wind, However they do hold some water when it rains. When I close the slides I get a pretty good amount of water rolling off the top.

My 2019 3130re came with slide toppers. The kitchen side topper does collect rain water. The kitchen slide does hit the floor when going in and out. CW tech disconnected the topper and it did not hit the floor. He believes the slide toppers put tension on the top of the slide causing the bottom to dig into the floor. I asked if he could adjust it but he was reluctant to change anything. He said it was a delicate balance. Recommended getting slide slickers and put them on the floor. I bought two 4'x4" thin glue on vinyl baseboard ($1 each), cut them in half and lay them on the floor when retracting the slides.

The slide toppers are designed to give a little when it rains and will collect a bit of water. We do not notice the slide toppers making noise in the wind but the big awnings will.

I also have a 2018 3120RL. I have toppers on all 3 slides that were factory installed.
I would think that the dealer could make it work for you.

Just put toppers on my 3920 similar set up. CW used dometic. Work great they do hold water when it rains, haven’t heard any flapping from them when windy.

3731FL, six slides all factory toppers. Awning clears dinning area slide but not by a lot. No flapping issue and no rain collecting, and have no issue with slide rubbing floor. I cannot believe the topper would put enough tension to alter the slide. They just need to adjust that slide. Our unit arrived at the dealer from the factory with a gouge in the floor where they had brought in the slide with some gravel of something under it. Dealer replace the kitchen floor and in the dpi warned us to always sweep the floor just before bringing in slides so I know the clearance is tight.

Slide toppers not worth it.

We have a 2018 3950BR with slide toppers. Just finished removing the last of them. We live in Colorado and also camp in New Mexico. Wind is horrible with them on. Actually had the fabric tear on the bedroom slideout. Flapping of the fabric will keep you awake all night. Even tightened the tension with no help in a high wind. Had one fall off going down the freeway. The would not cover it under warranty because I couldn’t prove that I didn’t hit something. The warranty and dealers service is a gimmick.
