W/D, Slendide 2100 in a 3400, vent question.

I posted a couple of PM's to folks who have 2100 Splendide's installed in their 3400's, but not sure they'll see these before tomorrows install.
Just got back from dropping off my 3400 ('05 with lower shelf in laundry room) at CW for the install of a Splendide 2100 and some other stuff in the AM. The foreman is now saying the 2100 won't fit due to the vent requiring more room at the rear.
I know others have had this unit installed in 3400's and am wondering if there is some explanation that I might provide to the CW foreman.
The unit requires 23 3/8D clearance (plus, I'm guessing, the width of the vent tube), and we have 26 1/2 depth, to clear the laundry room doors.
All input appreciated, and any install "tricks" you used would be great.

Flat vent in back. It can be purchased at some hardware stores and on line. CW doesn't carry them. http://heating-and-cooling.hardwares...pe-106826.aspx Of course it is out of stock but you will get the idea. Some Ace Hardware stores have them.
Happy trails..................

JERRY,
I INSTALLED A 2100 IN OUR MYSELF, OUR UNIT IS AN 'O5 3400, WE HAD A FALSE BOTTOM IN THE CLOSET. I REMOVED THE FALSE PANELING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CLOSET, REBUILT THE AREA INTO THE BASEMENT WITH 1/2" PLYWOOD, FINISHED AND PAINTED. THIS GAVE THE CLOSET A TOTAL DEPTH OF 27". THE 2100 IS 23 1/2" DEEP AND I HAD TO ROUTE THE VENT LINE UP OVER THE WASHER BECAUSE OF THE EXTERIOR VENT CLEARANCE WITH THE BASEMENT DOOR. THIS PUTS THE VENT ABOUT HALF WAY UP AND 24" AWAY FROM THE ENTRANCE DOOR. COMSETIC/MINOR PROBLEM, CUTTING THE VENT HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE RIG CUT INTO THE TAIL END OF THE DECAL.

ALL THE INFO I RECIEVED FROM OUR DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS BEFORE I STARTED THE PROJECT. GOOD LUCK

We have a 3475 Montana (same layout as the 3400 but with a fixed Kitchen) and installed a Splendid 2100 in our trailer. We had to use the flat vent to get the space to close the front doors. CW installed the unit after I furnished the flat vent. In addition to the flat vent I rehung the folding door so it opens in the middle. That way you can get to the controls and filters. There is a water filter on the lower right corner that has to be cleaned occasionally. The newer ones may not have the filter.

Thanks for the speedy responses here. As Parrothead and Ken suggested I did a search and located a product by Deflecto that advertised as a flat vent. It is a 2 1/2" sort of oval piece of duct which can be extended from 18" to 48".
A second search of stores carrying this product produced a local Meeks hardware store about a mile away from CW and they had three ($20.00) vents on the shelf !!!
CW is busy installing the W/D and TracVision Sat dish now.

Thanks again, jerry
