Another Tire ?

Contacting the local tire dealer who sells Salium tires and explaining to him about our 2017 Montana 3661RL camper, camper weight etc, he found a Samson tire, TRL GL285T, 14 ply, 4,400 load capacity at 95 LBS. He says this tire is used on long haul trailers and has a good reputation. Has anyone used this tire, would you buy another set? Thanks!

I don't know anything about Sampson. However, with all the info available about Sailun tires and not a single complaint that I'm aware of, my recommendation, FWIW, is going with a known factor, especially since Sailuns' costs are so low. OTOH, perhaps some folks will chime in with Sampson info.

I bought the Sampson's last year and thus far really like them, I bought them for a reasonable price, Sailuns were not available at the time I wanted to change them and as these are a commercial tire I expect they are and will be up to the task. I am running them at 110psi.... Huge improvement over the E rated that came with trailer.

Let us know how they work out for you. I haven't heard much either way about the Sampson's, but another alternative to the very expensive G614 besides the Sailun will be appreciated by me and, I assume, others who may be in the market.

One street side G614 blew and took out the other in January. The road service folks only had Samsons (check the internet and couldn't find anything but good reviews) so I put on 5 and have driven them for about 3,500 miles and so far so good and some of those miles were over pretty rough roads.

If your rig is a 2017 model, it should already have 14 ply Sailun tires on it.
