Oven lighting Question

This might be a stupid question but we have a Suberban oven in our 2014 Monty. But this has been an issue in all our RV's. Do they really expect peeps to get on their hand and knees to stick a lighter deep into the oven and hope you hit the pilot light eventually. How the hell are senior citizens expected to perform this magic act? And yes I am a Senior. We turned our oven into a storage space. The stupid part of this question is~~have I been doing it all wrong all these years? Is there any easier way to light it like turning on a burner or something???

Hey jaybird,

first of all there are no stupid questions.
Second, yeah, I think they do.... down on knees, head on floor.
Thirdly, I got one of those electronic sparky thingys like the gas grill has and adapted it to light the oven pilot.
made DW very happy! and my knees happy, too.

You are not doing it wrong which is why in our old rig we only used the convection oven only. The new one is supposed to have a sparker, but since the oven has always been storeage and the new one also has a convection oven I don't even know if it works.

That is part of the reason we haven't even had a Gas oven on our last two units. Just use the Convection/Microwave or the Toaster Oven.

Thanks for the replies but I'm still blown away by this. Besides huge uncomfortable work it seems a titch dangerous. Nothing like looking gas in your face with a lighter in hand.~CRAZY!

If you don't have a rig like a 3665 RE with the closed end island you haven't even experienced the whole deal
