Are you mouse proof?
We were in Vermont last week and while we were camped for five days we were invaded by a family of mice! The second night we were there (after seeing some mouse droppings and setting a few traps) we caught four mice. The next day I immediately crawled underneath the rig and found a number of pipes and/or wires that were not sealed. I sealed them up with foam and that night we still caught a mouse; and another the next night. We’re sure they weren’t in the rig when we left home but think a leaking double hose connection beneath the trailer provided a puddle water for a thirsty family of critters and they explored our home for anything else. On new rigs: check the holes underneath!

Mice are everywhere and can get into even the smallest holes. Like all wild animals they look for the basics.... food, water, and a nice safe warm place to stay. It does help to close up any access points that you can. I've also heard that they do not like those dryer sheets.... I can't think of what they're called. Good luck.

We have had this problem in NY State. We found they were climbing up the Elect. cord and squeezing through the smallest hole you can imagine. Steel wool works great. Just stuff it into the hole there using and apparently they hate the stuff and steer clear of it.
I wonder who first tried that, probably an MOC'er.

We have a problem with red squirrels here in NY! Our last trailer had 3 of them squeeze around the A/C cowling on the roof and ate through all of the ceiling vents.
Since we got the Montana, we had a squirrel get in from the heater ducts. It chewed through the only plastic heater vent, underneath the shower/tub. From what we can tell, it got into the underbelly then entered the heating duct through the vent in the belly used to heat the tanks and pipes.
Jen discovered the squirrel when the dogs were going wild...she looked at the rig and saw the squirrel staring out the window at her.

Mouseproof?
There appears to be a difference in perspective in ours: the humans hope so while the feline hopes not!
Given the feline's proven ability as a "mouser", the humans are more concerned with her tendency to view mice as "take-in" meals.

We don't have mice, at least at home. Between our house and our daughter's house we have at least 6 cats. They love to lie under the trailer.

Hey Gruffy,
Does half a Cat work as well as a whole one? Where can I get one?

Perhaps we need to start a small firm called Rent-a-Cat! Although our cats do not travel with us (they are simply TOO impossible) they have been in the rig and I guess this may serve as a mouse deterant. That said, we will still be under the rig checking for llittle access holes. Don't need any freeloaders over the winter!

Now I've seen people plug holes with some strange things, but this is a first!!! how much do you have to feed the cat before it's fat enough to plug the hole? is it more cost effective than other methods?

Let's just say we own Iams shares......
When he sticks in that hole we know we have to cut back on the kitty treats.....
