Folding handle by entry door?

I've tried searching without results for this. The foam rubber on the handle has torn and needs to be replaced. Stromberg Carlson has a replacement handle or a foam tape available but both cost aprox. $10.00 plus tax and shipping bringing it to about $20.00 for a piece of foam rubber worth about $.50. Has anyone found a better or more cost effective fix?

X2 with Hook. Haven't used it for that yet, but it comes in handy for a lot of things that are similar.

We used the pipe insulation with zip ties to hold it on. It did melt some in the above 100 degree weather. I like the idea of the bat tape.

You might try handlebar tape from a bike store. It would be like the baseball bat tape, but a little more cushion.

Good ideas! I'm going to take a look at the baseball bat tape and the bicycle handlebar tape.
Thanks.
