Clicking noise

Asking for my camping buddy, he's got a 2016 Alpine. Forty footer with the front bathroom. Sitting around the campground on this beautiful holiday weekend, we're hearing a clicking noise every once in a while. Sounds like it's coming from the hydraulic bay. (I believe it has a Lippert leveling system). Any ideas as to what this might be. Have a happy Memorial day and remember it's because of our Veterans that we can enjoy this great RV life that we love.

Once had a propane regulator go bad and it sounded like a clock ticking.

Those levelers will sometimes pop and make other noise. Lippert manual addresses this with guidance to include adding fork oil to the pump reservoir.

Our unit is 8 months old, ours was doing the same thing. After checking all hydraulic connections I found 2 quick connect fittings leaking in the battery compartment. I believe they are for bleeding the system, after tightening the fittings, no more noise.

This sounds like the hydraulic jacks are popping. This is normal but there is an cure for the problem. Use an bulb to pull out 1 quart of hydraulic fluid from the reservoir and and replace with Cat hydraulic oil . I believe the part number is IU 9891 and is about 65.00 for a quart. Some only use 1/2 quart but i used a whole quart and it worked. Just cycle your jacks 2 or 3 times after install and that should do it.

Thanks everyone, I’ll pass that along. Another question, he’s getting an E3 code on his Dometic thermostat. It will not clear. System seems to be working. Although this is our second day over 100 so no system is cooling completely. Wondering if anyone had had this happen

Anti Stiction Fluid Not Hyd. Fluid. This well documented on the Lippert site.

My manual says: E3 Shorted Indoor Temperature Sensor.
All heat, cool, and dehumidify operation will be locked out. Manual fan
operation can continue.

If E3 is shorted sensor, I would think a new thermostat will be needed. I don't believe they are serviceable.

You are correct. Cat calls their's hydraulic oil additive which is an anti stiction fluid. It can be found on e-bay for 20.00 plus 7.95 shipping. Cat list this for around 65.00 and i think i paid about 45.00 at Mustang Machinery a few months ago. This stuff actually works.

This helped our situation but sadly still happens once in a while.

According to Lippert, if one quart does not do it, add an additional quart the same way you did the first one. It does take a while to solve the problem, so maybe you haven't cycled the system enough to mix the additive thoroughly.

I get the clicking occasionally but now that I know what causes it I do not worry nor feel the need to change fluid. If it gets worse, I may consider changing fluid.

You don't need to change the fluid, just replace 1 quart.

Fork oil sounds great, wonder which viscosity would be best..........lol
Seriously it should work well, I stock 3wt, 5wt,7wt,10wt,and 15wt, i'm thinking the heavier wt would be best.
