When we were looking for our high country we found some that were not wired for a generator. We ordered our 330rl and had it gen prepped.

It is in the front compartment under the bed, It is a bit noisy while trying to sleep but very convenient, just push the button and you have power.

I found that it was hit and miss on generator prep for dealer stock. We ordered ours with a generator installed and it was worth every penny, have used it allot, and not for camping but for prepping or sitting in a truck stop or along side the road to 4 or 5 hours. I had an external generator on my last RV (now a house generator) and it was a pain to load up in the truck and use. Since we microwave almost everything and never go anywhere cold enough to need the gas heater rather than the heat pump my LP is used for the generator, no charring gas cans around. Works for me.

Bob and Sharon-- Are you planning on purchasing a new unit or are you questioning about the gen prep on your 2011 3400RL? As GreG L stated, it is hit and miss on whether a unit is gen prepped. It all depends on how the dealer orders them. Some order gen prepped and some don't. In any case, ALL of the gen preps are set up for the generator to be installed in the front storage compartment. It has been brought up here on the Forum about installing your own gen and the conclusion arrived at is NOT TO INSTALL YOUR OWN UNIT unless it is an Owen generator that is made for the unit. You can go to the Search engine at the top of the page here and search for generator prep or installing a generator and you'll find numerous posts on these subjects.

Gen prep in my Montana is in the front side. Easy to see upon opening the door.

It all depends on the dealer spec sheet they submit to Keystone. Montanas with the Legacy package come with the gen prep, on all others it has to ordered either by you if you wish it or the dealer because that is what they want to sell. I have no knowledge on the Montana High Country line.

Our 2010 2955RL purchased from a Dealer did not come with Gen Prep. I used the gen space to carry my two Honda 2000s, but did not run them in there.

Pre wiring for generator is an option, but most dealers specify it on their order. My HC is wired, but I don't have a generator. I use the generator space for my tools.

We have a 4k watt generator on our aluminum cargo carrier on the 5th rear hitch.
And we don't travel without a monoxide detector in the front & rear of the trailer.
No alerts ever in 4 years of heavy travel use.

That's what I'm in the process of doing Northern Lights. What kind of cover do you use.
