GOOD ARIZONA RV RESORT

Gayle and I are wanting to spend this winter in Arizona and are looking for advice from those of you that have already found a great place, preferably near Tucson or Phoenix, although we are open to any other suggestions. Thanks and see many of you again this year at the rally!

We just booked for 5 months in Az for this coming winter. We went to Good Sam site (currently not a member) and used their search function to find RV parks in the locations we were interested in with 9.0 or better ratings and then used the link to the RV Parks website to check out amenities, activities, etc and then booked.
This will be our 1st trip south as snowbirds and will be staying at Rincon Country West in Tucson for a month; 2 months at Gold CanyonRV resort just outside of Apache Junction; another month at Westwindrvgolfresort In Yuma and 2 weeks at Havasu Falls RV resort in Havasu Falls. We are stopping at the Grand Canyon on our way home at the end of March but haven't booked anything yet.
As this will be our first time I expect we will learn a lot about what type of RV park we prefer and if we will use all the amenities available to us.

On our recent trip out west we stayed at Sunflower RV Resort (16501 N. El Mirage Rd., Surprise, AZ). We were only there for 2 or 3 nights and it was kind of their off-season, but the rates were good. I think most publications rate them at 9.5 or 10. They have a lot of facilities on site and we found that for wanting to be in the Phoenix area the Peoria or Surprise towns were great.

A few MOC members spent last winter at Valley Vista Rv Resort in Benson, AZ last year and loved it. This is a small quiet park with a laundry, pool, hot tub and club house with some activities. If you are looking for a park with lots of lots of amenities this isn't it. Benson has 18 restaurants, Safeway, Walmart. Costco and much more are 40 miles away in Tucson. The area is loaded with many things to see and do. This parks offers some pretty good early bird specials so if you are interested give them a call.

We winter at Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort in Casa Grande which is approximately midway between Phoenix and Tucson. It is an outstanding and well cared for resort with lots of activities (if you choose) and rated 10/10/10. You can visit the web site here: www.palmcreekgolf.com

If you do decide to stay there, please use me as a referral and we'll both get a nice rebate! Any question, send me a PM and I'll answer right away (usually!)

We have reservations at Casa Grande RV Resort on the north side of Casa Grande on Rodeo Road about 30 miles south of Phoenix with easy access to I-10. We have stayed there several times on short time trips and find it to be a good value. I recommend visiting their web site.

We stayed at Casa Grande RV Resort Jan/Feb last winter and will repeat this year. Not as fancy as Palm Creek but great value, nice amenities and friendly. Liked the area away from Pinal Road due to traffic noise.

Desert Trails in Tucson is an "off-beat" RV park that is inexpensive. It's a hoot, but not for everyone. The amenities are a bit "used" but the owners are extremely nice and have a LOT of activities and fun. This is one of those places that you go for the experience. It's also located right next to miles of biking and hiking trails. We'll be there in March, (which may be one good reason not to go there ).

We have also stayed at http://casagrandervresort.com/ and really enjoy it, as others have mentioned the price is fairly reasonable and people friendly.

Casa Grande--halfway between Phoenix and Tucson and not the air pollution like the cities.

Well Gayle and I are booked in at Casa Grande after reading several very favourable reviews. We are going to be there Feb. and Mar. We,re going to try Pickleball, whatever that is. We like the fact that this park has been seriously updated 2 yrs ago,and also the location approx. 30 min. from Phoenix and 30 min from Tucson and has local shopping at Casa Grande. Thanks to all who replied, some of whom we'll see at the park. Before we go there, we are going to Quarzite for 2 weeks. This retirement gig is awesome!
