Need Some Shark repellant!!

Ok, I need advice from the group, since I’m a newbie at RV Buying and about to go into the lion’s den (Camping World).

So, I got a good offer (you heard that before) about 13,000 off the national average asking price for a HC 294RL from a dealer up north 600 miles away spec out factory order. Today my New Best Buddy Calls from Camping World (Sarcasm) and after going back and forth a little while and with no proof of the up-north agreement they match it. So tomorrow going to see him and talk numbers, not to buy. Since they where that quick with the deal, I want see what else they can do, salesman has already been texting me about the Good Sam and what not and how I'll be first in line for warranty work nationwide if I breakdown

So, my question is, what do I need to look out for, how will they come at me?

I need any and all advice. I know, I have the power to walk away. Anything else you guys have done in a deal to sweeting the pot when comes to buying an RV?

Thank you in advance
Rick

Well I would believe that "First in Line" comment from any Dealer unless I was on a First Name basis with the owner and we were long time friends.
That phrase sounds really good to make a sale, but once the sales is done many won't even know you.
As for the actual deal, only you can make that final decision. If you like the product and feel the price is reasonable it's a good deal for you.

Like buying a car. End of the month, end of the quarter, end of the year. They gotta make their quota.
Long story short...
Wife and buying a car. Ended up between a red one and a white one. Same model. White one was standard. Red one was tricked out $2000 more (DW wanted this one). I wanted the cheaper one.
Finally told the salesman we will sleep on it and be back tomorrow. He said hang on. Got his Manager. Manager came in and said "if I give you the red one for the price of the white one, will you take it now?"
We went home with the red one.
Haggle your best deal. Get them to put it in writing. Walk away. Let them call you.
That's how we got our Monty

Very true statement, “If you like the product and feel the price is reasonable it's a good deal for you”. I tell my sons that very same thing and add “after you buy you will always see a better deal the next day, in the end as long as you are happy with your deal”.

I guess one my main concerns is if I put an deposit down on a factory order and after the a PDI using phillyg checklist and it’s so bad or the dealer wants to fix at a later date or problems arise on pricing. I guess, first on the list is to see their CW deposit policy on factory orders.

The sales guy is one thing BUT watch out for the finance guy. They are a tricky bunch. Good luck with your purchase.

I do belong to Good Sam but not the insurance just the camping. I have insurance through my car insurance company.

Slow hand, that's in the plan and to maybe get a lower rate than our banks. I read how to watch out for the addons and how the purchase item runs out and you are paying that $5.00 extra a month across the entire loan.

I have heard nothing but bad stuff about Camping World, especially when it comes to service. You may want to check out various dealers as far as service is concerned, because believe me, you will need service. Some dealers will only service what they sell. Saving a few thousand dollars means nothing if your rig ends up spending most of the summer waiting for service.

Agree with Daryl. Three best times to buy a vehicle is last day or two of a month, last day or two of a quarter, and especially last day or two of the year. Have a good friend who was a new car salesman for years and always told me that. Probably the same with RVs. So if you go to look in the next couple of days, drag out the negotiations until near the last day of this month. The closer it gets to the last day and the more you say you are not sure or need to think about it the more they will drop their price and/or begin offering extras. Look interested, but don’t act overly enthusiastic.

Loneoak, I have read the same thing about CW, I'm a hands-on type and planned on doing the most of services myself. I chuckle with the wife when the salesman texted me that statement. I also understand that there are probably way more RVs on the road than the industry can keep up with.

Ten years ago when we knew we were going to full time I started a spread sheet with the good and bad service dealers adding to the list as experiences were shared on the forums I belong to. CW's do have a couple of good ones, but the number of bad ones far outnumber them and some of the stories were so bad they were hard to believe. Check the internet for actual experiences with your dealer.
