DW wants a sofa like in the new Montys

We are camping with new friends who have a 2011 which we toured. There are some things we prefer in our 2005, but the sofa isn't one of them. The "new" sofa with cup holders, removable trays and air mattress has SWMBO and I searching the internet.

So far we haven't found anything like it except something in leather from Brookstone which we don't want (leather, that is).

Has anyone seen something like the sofa in the new Montys that we could buy?

I believe the primary source for furniture in the Montana's is Flair Interiors from Elkhart, IN. An internet search should yield their web-site where you can start your search.

Thanks Bingo. Not much on their site but I may give them a call after the long weekend.

We discarded the sofa bed and I use that term very loosely the DW wanted a futon after seeing some on here and I think it is great more room and very comfortable.

Bobbie, I wish you'd discarded it our way! She likes the drink holders and trays. We'll never sleep on it, so we don't care what the mattress is like (although our son will when he visits).

I'm confused. Do they put different sofas in different models? My 2011 doesen't have cup holders and trays. They all look the same in the advertising.

OK, now I'm confused too. All I know is DW wants a sofa with cup holders and tray tables. Maybe it came as part of an option package? I haven't a clue. (But don't call me clueless!)

The one we saw looked like this but had fabric, not leather: http://www.brookstone.com/sl/product...ay-tables.html

The 2011 BIG SKY 3580RL I received on April 23,2011 came off the production line the week of April 4, 2011 and was in California April 16,2011. The trailer has the new model sofa with the cup holders and the TV trays. Montana people said the trailer was a 2012 model with the new style sofa but it came off the production line a couple weeks before they could call it a 2012 model. My wife did not want the sofa with the cup holders but Montana said all the 2012 models come with that sofa. The sofa we have is fabric and a much different style than the leather one Brookstone shows in their add, in my opinion ours is much better looking. It is the Mocha decor.

Our 2011 (which we received in June 2010) has the older style sofa. I guess the sofa style changed later in the 2011 year (along with the new curved roof, which we don't have)

Our new Montana that we just had delivered last week is also considered a 2011 because it came off the line in early April. It has the new sofa with the twin tables and cup holders.

Sunflowers, we just checked on the same thing. Our new (2011) 3400 came with a sofa that is just plain uncomfortable. We had the dealer check on the one with the cup holders/trays. Yes, it could be ordered........cost is $1500.00. Well, I guess our current one is not THAT uncomfortable. Especially since we've already replaced the swivel recliners with a couple of "wall hugger" La-Z-Boy recliners. We never sit on the sofa, well, rarely. And, it keeps company from staying too long. We are still considering changing it, and we're looking at Flexsteel products. But, we might just replace it with a La-Z-Boy sofa, if they have a good sale. The bed is not a problem for us either, we don't use it. The other thing we are considering, is replacing it with a couple more recliners. Other than the storage under the sofa, which isn't much, we really don't need one. Some things to consider!! Good luck. I know my DW hates the existing sofa. We also discovered that there seems to be an assortment of sofas used in various models of the same year.

I figured that Keystone would want a premium for it.

If anyone sees something similar in a furniture store I'd appreciate knowing about it.

Frank, I agree that the Brookstone sofa isn't styled like the one Keystone is using, but it was the only one I could find online with the cup holders, tray tables, storage drawer and air mattress, just like the one in the new Monty's.

If we could figure out who makes it for Keystone I could call them and find out if they also supply something like it to some furniture store, somewhere.

To remedy having a place to put cups, we moved our sofa to back window location and put recliners on wall of dinette and used the small table that was between recliners as a small coffee table. Works well for us.

All 2011 3400's were not created equal . Several things changed on/in the 3400's during the 2011 model year which was really confusing when we were looking at them. We saw one at a dealer with features we liked, but when we were ready to buy in Elkhart, the one which had been built more recently was quite different. So depending on when it was made, some have four exterior steps while others have three outside and one inside; some have sofas without cupholders and some have sofas with cupholders, although we never saw the tray part. Another change was the bulletin board and one shelf which replaced the three shelf unit at the end of the kitchen peninsula upper cabinet. When we toured the factory in April, they were getting ready to begin building the 2012's and were going to replace the air mattress in the sofas with, I believe, a regular hide-a-bed type mattress. Rationale was that too many people poked holes in their air mattress due to not putting it away properly and then complained that it was defective and wanted a replacement under warranty, which got expensive for the company. There was at least one other thing that changed, but can't remember what it was. It was a challenge to find a unit with the features we wanted, but we persevered and brought it home last month.

So far we sold the chairs that were in the back (not the originals, but brand new Flexsteel leather swivel rockers the dealer put in and we hated - too narrow and hard) and bought some beautiful burgundy Euro recliners and ottomans (ottomen?) by Benchmaster that are a perfect match for the drapes (those fake things at the sides of the windows), contrast nicely against the dusty rose carpet and bring out the burgundy in the other upholstery. We sold the old chairs for $200 each and bought the new ones for $198 each including tax.

With the difference I bought some Italian ice for dessert tonight.

We are getting ready to leave for a 5,000 mile journey and the sofa sleeper we have will stay for now. I don't have time to deal with it; only 6 days before we leave!
