Truck tire recommendation

Replaced the camper tires last week with BF Goodrich T/A's. Am now looking for tires for the truck. The original Continentals only have 31000 on them, but they're going to need replacing soon. Size is 275/70R/18. Lonnie, or anyone else have any experience or suggestions? Thanks

I put Wranglers on my TV but I needed something that I could go out into a muddy field and not get stuck with. You may not need that type of tire! I'm sure Lonnie will be along shortly.

We also have the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's on the Monty. On the truck I have the Michelin LTX M/S. This is the second set that I have had and am very pleased with them.

In the size you are needing there are several options available. Below are a few, but not all of the chioces available.

1. Michelin LTX M/S2 - This tire has a limited 70,000 mile tread wear warranty. As far as I know, it is the ONLY LT rated tire that offers any kind of tread wear warranty from the manufacturer. Cost, after mounting and balancing, should run around $258.00 per tire.

2. Firestone Transforce H/T or A/T - These tires don't have a tread wear warranty, but they consistently get 65,000 to 70,000 miles. I sell hundreds of these tires and have never had any type of failure due to materials or workmanship. Cost, after mounting and balancing, should run around $210.00 each for the H/T and $228.00 each for the A/T.

3. BF Goodrich Commercial T/A - Again, no tread wear warranty, but rated for 50,000 miles. I don't have any hands on experience with this tire, but I have heard from people I trust that it is a very dependable tire. Cost, after mounting and balancing, should be around $210.00 each.

4. Goodyear Wrangler S/A PG - This tire is rated for 50,000 miles, but like the others, carries no tread wear warranty from the mfg. Not being a Goodyear dealer, I have sold only a small quantity of this tire, so my experience with it is also very limited. Cost, after mounting and balancing, should be around $267.00 each.

Michelin makes a tire that lasts a long time plus there's a $70 rebate with a purchase of 4. They give a real stiff ride but my first set lasted 50,000 miles with tread left.

Not to be a smarty,But how did you get 105k out one set of tires? I have 102k on my truck, which is the same as yours but a 2500 and have been through 2 sets of them, and I do not hot rod or accelerate fast. Just wondering.

I don't think the mileage on the Michelins is unreasonable. Michelins are known to get a lot of mileage and I believe they specify 70K. What I'm wondering about is how old were the tires. I use Michelins and I change them every 4-5 years because of age and I don't want the sidewall going south out on a freeway somewhere.

Bridgestone dualler Revo 2's. I have been a BF goodrich all-terrain fan for years and I bought these just to try another tire. I am so impressed with them so far. They are quiet, smooth riding, great traction in heavy snow and ice and rain. Hold up well in mud and the wear on them is very well. I have only 8 K on them, but they still look new. I will give a review when I put 30K on them. If you stay on the road all the time then I would sick with the Michelins. Long lasting tire. I have ribs on my trailer....

I had over 75,000 miles on a set of michelins on my wifes explorer, still had 1/2 the tread left and had to replace them because of age. (Tires age, not wifes)

In my opinion the Michelin LTX M/S2 is the way to go. At work I run these tires exclusivly on all our pickup trucks in the quarry operation and have never seen at tire hold up as well as they do.

Michelins are very fine tires and last nearly twice as long as some of the other brands...they should since they cost nearly twice what some of the others cost.

I has the OEM Michelin LTX M/S on my 07 Dodge and at 34000 they are pretty close to being worn out. Do they have the 70,000 mile tread wear out warantee on them? I will order new Michelins when I do as I have them on all my cars and they wear like iron. Even have them on my Harley

The LTX M/S does not carry a mileage warranty on the LT rated tires. Only the LTX M/S2 carries the 70,000 mile warranty and it is a limited warranty. In order to collect on it, Michelin requires the tires to be rotated and balanced every 5000 miles, and they will want records to prove it.

northeastdiesel, I run the same tire you have on my truck and the wifes truck. I have yet to wear out a set as someone always comes in wanting used tires. I'll sell mine when they are about 2/3 worn and install a new set. I average about 35,000 miles before replacing them.
