Bad Bad little Nuvi - Montana Owners Club

My new Nuvi 760 keeps sending me to another planet. When I travel to the southern half of Colorado on I-25, the little car just parks and the map disappears until I get to New Mexico, then it all comes back. It still knows where I am and gives directions, but can't show me the roads (says "drawing" continuously on a white screen). It did it in the same location on the way home a few days later.

Last week it did it again on a parallel path, only clear on the western slope of Colorado - and with the new 2009 maps.

I kept trying to blame it on the maps, but I think its the Nuvi. Garmin is replacing it under the 90 day thing.

Anybody else experience this phenomenon with the Garmin?

Haven't you heard? Southern Colorado recently came under the control of aliens, and is no longer visible by satellite,

hahahaha - Lonnie - thats not too far off from what the service tech said on the phone. She said it might be NORAD in Colorado Springs blocking the satellite connection! I told her not likely!

Spent some time on your side of Navajo Res last week with a couple of other Monties. Absolutely gorgeous weather.

Or.....it could have something to do with radiation laden coal being burned in Colorado for electricity which in turns causes extreme sun spot activity (the real reason for global warming???) which then results in lumbar....ooops, I mean lunar gravitational pull imbalances on the ocean which the Nuvi now interprets as all of Southern Colorado has fallen into the clutches of a new bay being formed upstream of Los Angeles due to excessive sediment transport downstream of Lake Mead. Or, is it my stock options that are under water, I can't remember now???????

I asked her about that too Bingo, and she said she wouldn't be able to answer me till she got the Nuvi back and held a Geiger counter up to it

You should see what happens when you are in Quebec... Not a good place to have things go haywire when we can't even read the road signs....

We have the same (Garmin Nuvi 760) as Brad and luckily have not had any trouble with it. It's all we had hoped it would be, and then some. The blue tooth feature works great with our cellphone and with the vehicle stereo. I just have to remember to warn my callers when I have someone else in the car with me when I use the car's stereo speakers as my phone speakers.

Bingo. With all that talk that made no sense you should run for office. Have you tried a external antenna? My 660 is at Garmin right now as it would work fine on the external antenna but would not work with just the antenna that comes with it. The little one that is on the back. The gal that I talked to had me up date it and then said that it needed to be returned for repair and said it was under warranty.

I don't have an external antenna to try. Sounds like it would go back for warranty anyway, so I'll see if they can fix it. If I have to, I will relunctantly add an antenna.

Today our gal tried to take us the "home" by taking the off road... It was a right turn to our campground from the freeway... Only problem was that their wasn't an off ramp... She gets really mad when we don't follow directions...

We had much better results with our Tom Tom but will wait until we get back to the U.S. before we decide which one to use and which one to sell.

Yep, that lady in the Garmin Nuvi does get a little steamed when you don't follow her instructions. I wish we could choose from a variety of voices.

You can down load all different kinds of voices and languages. Have you up dated your unit? That is where the languages are at. Any questions call Garmin as they we help you. Very nice people to deal with.

yeppers - lots of cool downloads including voices, routes, even vehicles. I use a beat up old Winnebego when I pull the Monty.

Awesome.... Do they have Ford one tons? We are also looking for campgrounds? Haven't found one for that?... Even when we put the address in, it can't be found...

I noticed some of the campgrounds using nav points on there ads in the Woodall Directory. I was trying to find one in Western Colorado and it couldn't find it on the State Highway address, so I just entere the coordinates and went right to it.

Darn, this year we have the Trailer Life campground book... Maybe I'll have to use last year's Woodall. We trade off every year.
