Water tank
Full timers:
As we begin our full timing I have a question about the water tank. For the next 6 months the trailer will not be moving, do I leave the tank empty? Use it on occasion? I see some in the park where I am located have split the water supply to feed both the tank & the 'house' supply. Your thoughts?
thx
-Steve

When in the unit, we leave the fresh water tank partly full, just in case we loose city water which happens on occasion, when a water pipe bursts in the park, or an rver accidently runs over a water hookup. When rig not being used, we leave empty.

We do the same. One half when parked and very close to empty when traveling.

We probably only have it 1/3 when parked except when we know a park has issues, then we have it full. Try to keep it 1/4 when traveling just for emergency bathroom stops etc.

We always keep the fresh water tank full- As others have said, rv parks are prone to loss of water supply quite frequently- We have experienced poor tasting water at many rv parks- We MUST have our coffee upon arising in the am- Some water is also needed at rest stops, etc. We do have to remember to drain, flush and refill where we know the park water is good enough for our coffee- JMHO- Don

Another reason to keep water in the fresh tank (if it is like ours and in the back). It adds weight to the rear and 'lifts' the front a bit - hence lightening the pin weight. We have been over 1000 lb over the truck weight limit but each axle is ok. so every little bit helps.
p.s. Now we are only 600 lb over with the new truck!

Im not a FTer but I always have water in the fresh water tank I keep it for the reasons others have posted about RV parks mishaps, along with extra weight when full my Monty seems to bounce less.
When my Monty is in storage it then is for emergency preparidness, if there ever is a disaster in my area I will have a tank of good drinking water available if needed along with canned and dehydrated food. I always put in fresh water every time it is used for camping so it dont get stale tasting, which in all my years of camping I have yet to see bad water from any of my tanks, I was told if they dont get any light it dosent go bad with in reason of course.

We always put an ounce of Purogene in the fresh water tank every time we fill it. Never have had any taste problems.

I second the calming down the bounce. I won't travel with anything less the a half a tank becasue if I do dish start to break in the rear kitchen.
