Help with hitch requirements

I am positive this has been hammered ad nauseum but I could not find anything. I have the 3500rl and looking to buy a 5th wheel hitch. What tow rating should I have at minimum??

In my opinion, look at what the gross vehicle weight of your rig is and then buy a larger hitch than that. For instance, our GVW is a little over 15,000# so I have a 20K hitch. For me it's not about pulling, it's about protecting us in the cab in a wreck.

When it comes to safety there is no overkill. The stronger the better.

Find the GVWR of your Montana and get a hitch with more capacity.

Don't forget that hitches have pin weight capacity as well as tow capacity.
