sway bars onTT
I have a 31ft Rld Mountaineer TT. Right now I do not us sway bars and do not have a lot of issues with the trailer fish tailing.
Would it be a good investment to get sway bars as my wife and i are going down to Yuma in December?

I would definitely get them and use them. If noting else a little added protection.
Good luck.

Do you mean the anti-sway bar(s) at the tongue of a WD Hitch? When I towed a 30' travel trailer it made a huge difference for us when it was windy and especially when a big rig blew by us going in the opposite direction at a high speed. It eliminated a lot of sway (there was still a tiny bit) but helped keep things in control. Amazing result for such a small size. I only added one, but I've known others who put them on both sides of the WDH.
The only consideration was that the one I got required it to be removed if I was backing up. Since most of my driving was forward when traveling, this was not a problem. When we got to our destination, I would remove it at checkin and put it away since we drive slow and easy in the campground and I didn't want to have to remember about it.
There are types where you can back up with, but this might require replacing the WDH which was not a financial option for me. So I took the easier solution that only added about $70 or less (I forget). The southern AZ desert is pretty windy, I've only been through there a half dozen times (Spring, early Summer or Fall) and it was always real windy.

Our WDH hitch came with a single sway bar that did allow us to back up. Kansas has a big wind problem, particularly in the spring and I was towing our TT with a Dodge Dakota so I needed all the help I could get. If I forgot to put the sway bar on (did it twice) I realized my mistake as soon as the first wind gust hit us.

I would use them!
I’ve had several travel trailers and I believe they really make a difference. My preference would be the dual cam sway control.

I used anti-sway bars on utility trailers that I owned and they made a big difference when towing.

Sway bars are life insurance. They don't gaurantee safety but you can't go back and get them when the emergency arrises, and it will if you travel enough. We turned a 31 ft Terry upside down 25 yrs. ago because our hitch lost it's sway bar tension while driving. Sway bars and anti sway device are don't leave home without devices, IMHO. Larry

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto pulled two different TTs before the Monty, had the Reese Equalizer Hitch with the dual cam sway bars. Wouldn't leave home without them.

I agree with Bill. As the friction bars tend to work after the fact and the cam sway controls work to prevent the sway. we used both on our previce camper and notice a big difference when we changed to the cam sway controls.

When we were pulling a travel trailer (32'), I used two sway bars. The second one made all the difference in preventing fishtailing. If I was to go back to a TT, I definitely would use two sway bars.

This is what I used when towing my TT. EZ to use and worked terrific. I really noticed a difference when meeting big rigs on a two lane. Highly recommended! http://www.equalizerhitch.com/
Hensley makes excellent ones too but very pricey.

I decided on an Equal-i-zer hitch with built in 4 point sway control. I got a good Price at Amazon $474.00 with free shipping.
Thanks for all the input.
